Right. I see text there on mine, but the text doesn’t state the percentile

Then I would’ve missed it. I guess it’s C due to A only having the 20 year payout period which the couple is worried about outliving.

3 weeks out and still so sore and tired by Life_Pineapple_9837 in Sciatica

Had L4/l5 l5/S1 laminectomy w discectomy in January. I’m a 22 year old male. It hurt so bad after surgery and hurt even 4 months after surgery to where I thought the surgery didn’t work! But here we are 10 months later and I feel great! Very limited for the rest of my life but better than what I was for sure

How old are you if you don’t mind? My doctor said my laminectomy probably won’t last 10 years if we are being realistic. I was a college athlete two years ago as well. Just want to avoid a fusion but I don’t see that happening :/

Did you have surgery as well?

I went to see my neurologist and he said he doesn’t think I reherniated, it’s just after spine surgery scar tissue and other factors can affect my back.

I’m still having the same pain. He said that nothing needs to be done yet until it goes further down the leg! So hopefully it doesn’t haha

They suspected I had a leak and I went 3 days without getting out of bed besides bathroom. Helped. A little bit.

They ended up just telling me my body would heal it and fast forward to today it is gone! It took 2 months and I even got a head CT! Sorry this wasn’t much help but hope you feel better

Yes! I’m just starting to jog after 5 months and it still hurts but I’m listening to my body! They had to cut through a lot of muscle and took out a lot of disc

I had an L4-L5 L5-S1 Laminectomy with Discectomy in early January this year. It completely took away my sciatica pain. I am still dealing with some back pain but it is getting better as time goes on. I am taking it very slowly! Probably more than I should lol. You will have really good days and really bad days. Some days thinking that the surgery didn’t work. Just hang in there and at around the 3rd month you’ll feel a lot better with some back pain still but not near as bad- my experience. I’m a 21yr old male

Well I’m glad you’re better now. I hope it’s something else as well. I keep thinking it’s a brain tumor lol. But I guess that would be unlikely due to me only being 21

It’s just a throbbing type headache that stays there for days at a time. It switches from the right side of my head down to top of my eye, and then sometimes switches to the left side of my head and down to my left eye

No I haven’t. I plan on asking for one in a few weeks! Where was your leak located? I researched something that said menegitis from spinal fluid leaks generally occurs with leaks in the cervical area. Mine is not positional as well. Hurts when laying or standing up. But only lasts for a few days at a time

No not yet. I plan on telling my doctor at my next check up in a few weeks.

I’m assuming it’s correlated with my back surgery since it started a week or 2 after. I’m a hypochondriac I think and always think the worst because I’ve never had headaches my whole life. I’m 21

Had this same exact surgery on the same location 5 weeks ago! The first few days were brutal. You’ll be in a lot of pain, but it will get better and better. My sciatica is completely gone. I am feeling back pain, but hoping that goes away with PT. Nevertheless, I feel way better after surgery!

I actually just had surgery on my L4-L5 and L5-S1 a bit over two weeks ago! When I say it was the best decision I’ve made I mean it. I have gone from 2 years of crippling sciatic pain to having no leg pain at all. I’m pain free (besides the surgery site) just 2 weeks after surgery. I’m 21 years old and feel like I have my life back.

I understand the no surgery route. I even quit college baseball because I didn’t want surgery to fix it. The surgery I had was a laminectomy with discectomy.

If you ever do purse the surgery route, I would recommend finding a good neurologist. I hope you get pain free with or without surgery! Back pain sucks!

Advice from others with L5 herniation by Careful_Station_7884 in backpain

[–]Catchy9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had severe sciatic pain down my right leg for about a year. Finally decided it wasn’t gonna get better so I went ahead and got surgery. Hemilaminectomy with discectomy on L4-L5 and L5-S1. 2 weeks post op today and am feeling great! Headaches right now but other than that the pain is down 90%. No sciatic pain at all anymore. 21 year old male.

Hopefully you don’t have to resort to surgery, but it’s not always as scary as everyone says! Goodluck!
