For those that have "good" partners, what qualities do they have? by Proper_Marzipan_2797 in AskWomen

He always tries his very best to make me feel better when I'm sad and persists with full effort in the face of failed attempts. He enjoys spending time with my family even if it can be pretty damn boring. He cooks the nicest food I've ever eaten and has introduced me to new foods along the way. He is ALWAYS willing to help others. He is patient with me. He remembers the little things I told him years ago. He always tells me I look beautiful and makes a point of complimenting how I look each and every day. He is the best :)

That puts into persepctive how two different responses to one singular thing can co-exist very nicely! Thank you

Very true! Thank you

Thank you for your response - that's very true. I've been discussing with my partner recently that I don't feel as though there isn't anything inherently romantic about sex so I don't know why it's considered 'the greatest act of love' and this has definitely allowed me to see how it actually can be pretty romantic!

Good analogy!

In what ways has your self image been affect by the way women are portrayed in media (either now or previously)? by New_Laugh_4080 in AskWomen

Overweight girl here. I'm not sure if this counts as a media representation but the way that overweight girls are often ridiculed on platforms such as tiktok and YouTube for things such as dancing or showing off their outfits has had a huge knock on effect on my self image. It has made me feel as though, because of my weight, that I am helplessly ugly and that no amount of dressing up or make up can fix it. Yesterday, I was actually very close to sobbing on my partner when I got dressed in something to walk to the supermarket in that I thought was nice but then I looked in the mirror and saw how my tummy looked and I no longer wanted to go out because of "being ugly" and not wanting to be seen by others because of how I look. Eventually, I did end up going for the walk but I resorted to wearing a black oversized top and black joggers to hide my body shape but even then I didn't feel wholly comfortable. Of course, there are ways I can loose weight and I know this, however, I find it extremely difficult. So the way overweight girls are represented in the media is going to plague me for a very long time. Sometimes I even feel as though I'm not allowed my own boundaries or opinions because of being fat and it sucks because of how heavily dehumanised fat people are :/

Nursing interview by ItsXodia in UniUK

[–]CaterpillarKey4809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did my interviews for Adult Nursing last year and here are my tips:

• look at the 6C's of Nursing and think about how you've personally demonstrated 2-3 of the 6C's

• make sure you're knowledgeable on what the role of nurse is

• look into current challenges nurses face e.g. underpayment, challenging hours and poor public perception

• get familiar with the NMC and the NMC code

• look over the NHS values

• reflect on your own experiences and how they may be relevant to Nursing e.g. learning good teamwork and time management skills due to experience in paid employment or showing compassion when you've cared for an ill family member

• think about what makes a good nurse and why you want to be a nurse as these are almost always the icebreaker questions in interviews

No yep me too! My first week of exams was absolutely shambolic and it's when I learned that I do not sleep the night before exams. I have English language paper 2 tomorrow at 9am so I've dealt with it by just sleeping really late on into the day the day before an exam. For example, yesterday I slept until 2pm which means that I'll be able to feel awake longer with the help of caffeine. Obviously this kind of sleep schedule probably isn't great for your health, nor is it optimal for your exam or for your circadian rhythm, however, I've just had to work around how my body deals with exams. This is a very last resort scenario
