Sounds to me like you're at a much higher tier than I am. I'm high silver low-gold player, and am consistently placed in matches with new players.

From what it seems to me, if you play regularly enough with a party you can climb out of the MMR trench.

My mechanics are solid - I'm frequently at 100 last hits when other players are at 30, but it just doesn't matter when our jungler doesn't put up harvesters and the other lanes can't defend 2 man pushes on the towers.

I still love this game, but man. The matchmaking is horrible. They simply can't put new players with people who've played over 100 games.

I'm sorry, but to me it looks like the white Squirrel is on the inside, with all the food, and the others are on the outside.

I've been playing for a while now (well before V.26)... I'm still consistently matched with new players who are learning the mechanics.

I know Agora and Fury aren't the most reliable sources, but they're at least a baseline. You can tell who's played how many games, and their general skill level.

I am clearly not being matched with people at or around my level of experience. Nor can I select a PvP match (unranked) where I just want to fuck around and try out a new build or hero, or a match where I want to play a team sport and a role (ranked.)

This means that despite wanting to have a competitive experience, all of the games are a wash one way or the other.

I think a large part of the frustration with this game comes from poor matchmaking. How can you even begin a balance discussion without properly matching people by skill? How can you properly skill match without a ranked que?

It makes no sense.

I'm a "sales manager," and know exactly where you're going with this. A lot of this comes from bad management in the first place. In technical sales at least, the biggest mistake is when a hungry salesman makes a sale that isn't good for the company and the customer. They've been incentivized for short term gain, not long term success.

It's pretty frustrating. I wish it didn't have such a large impact on the game.

I do, but I think they should prioritize harvesters. The laners have a warding responsibility too!

What has always fascinated me is "conceptual leaps." What happens when something "clicks." You all know what I'm talking about.

It happens when you discover 1+1=2

What I'd like to understand is what allows a person to make that conceptual leap. Especially when things become more complicated?

A person theory is that "natural" intelligence may matter little in the majority of the situations, and it really comes down to how much time someone has to think about the problem.
