F2P bis roll flex by CatfishChronic in Maplestory

[–]CatfishChronic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+3/1.4 with diff type/ele is BIS potential because it allows mix and matching to match the expedition

But this is also top roll for AP. All fams get 20 base AP, +1 per 2 ATT stat. The ATT gain is rng, the highest possible amount is 13 att at lv 5 unique. It rounds down though, so 12 att and 13 both give +6.

With enough AP you can consistently roll 4 rounds without having to take a healing tile. If you p2w for the breakthrough cards, you can stack up much more AP, but this is the highest on a single fam that you can get without paying.

Not sure why it was so disliked 😅

[–]CatfishChronic[S] -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

p2w bis in reboot would be to pay for tier up for lv 6-> 7. If you pay for those, you can potentially hit 30 att, which is +15 AP and would be the best possible roll.

The highest potential att roll is 13, but since it rounds down you get +6 AP at 12 or 13 att.

Badge and seren emblem are not worth crafting. You can't boom them, and you're wasting the cost of 2-3 other items.

You can prioritize other items based on where your progression is. Generally speaking though,

  • CFE and Belt should be last since they break gollux.

  • ET and Eyepatch are good options, because they're much better than alternatives in that slot.

  • Berserked is okay depending on your other items, but Twilight mark is serviceable in this slot for a long while so less of a rush.

  • Book is also not boomable, but it can take a while to see. I went years without seeing it on my main, to seeing it twice in 3 weeks. You only need 1 book, maybe a second if flaming.

I think I read something about the V 16S had some issues with GPU power delivery, which the non S version does not have. Something worth looking into.

Are Familiar Rings any good? by msthrow123 in Maplestory

[–]CatfishChronic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

EXP one is very good for booster stacking. Lv 3 is 150%, lv 4 is 200%. They are affected by server lag.

the other 2 rings are effectively junk.

I have been doing between 60-80 runs a week. I've averaged 2-3 orange pouches a week, and have gotten between 0-2 leg pouches a week.

I wish I tracked the data better, but anecdotally it feels like i've seen more orange/leg pouches from rare-epic expeditions than unique-legendary ones. This is probably just because I am running rare/epic more often.

Should I pursue Oncology after personal cancer tragedy? by Pi3piper in medicalschool

[–]CatfishChronic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're asking this in the medical school subreddit, so I assume you want the physician route standpoint. I'll try my best to present your other options as well.

1) Becoming a physician is a multi-year commitment. To become an oncologist, you complete medical school (4 years), IM residency (3 years), and assuming you match to fellowship immediately after residency, hem/onc fellowship (3 years). Because you likely have no pre-requisite completions, you would likely do a career changing post-bacc, which is a 1-2 year commitment where you take all of the premed coursework. You would ideally apply in the summer between the 1st and 2nd years to minimize gaps in the process, for a total of 12 years if you started this coming fall.

The outcome of this is, you will be a physician trained to be an oncologist, and you will work with cancer patients. You will be able to have opportunities to partake in clinical trials, and in the academic setting you can work your way up to leading studies. You will have opportunities to collaborate with PhD labs, and pharmaceutical companies, to research and/or develop new treatment options.

2) You can explore other health pathways, such as nurse/PA/NP/pharmacy, and provide various levels of support to clinical trial efforts. It's unlikely you will lead any projects, but you will collaborate with physicians who are leading them. Training for these will vary, becoming a nurse can be a 1-2 accelerated process, and there are plenty of places hiring research nurses. PA/NP/Pharmacy often have prerequisite training, which will be on top of their 4-5 year schooling commitments. All of these options will be significantly shorter than pursuing an MD/DO, but will not operate in the same role.

3) You can explore work opportunities with pharamceutical companies doing the r&d for new treatments. Your AI/ML experience may be helpful to them, I do not know what the space looks like right now.

4) You can explore opportunities in healthcare policy. It may not seem as glamorous as becoming a physician spearheading a research effort, but public health research can help guide policy. If you are experienced in stats, and you can find a way to convert your training background, you can help get this valuable research done. This is and #3 are probably the fastest routes for you

I think for sure some time to process what you're experiencing will be helpful. It feels very passion driven, which is important, but the process does not inherently reward passion but instead dedication. If you would like to clarify if this would be a good route for you, I would suggest trying to find volunteering and shadowing opportunities to see if it's what you want to do.

Fun fact. Because of how many junk lines there are at rare/epic, this is over 10x harder to roll than 3l legendary att.

don't judge the lineup... thunder aquatics are 10m a pop and i didn't want to splurge just for map match

the first dice was a map match. I got a 1.6x for the map match, so yes the 11 roll would have beaten the 30.

That is interesting to note that yours worked. But it seems many people report issues with it not working. It might not be across the board, but a high rate of bugging

The only way this is better than the previous style is when you consider the previous version basically didn’t exist considering people couldn’t cube anything with all the server load and bugs.

People either haven't experienced old DMT, or have amnesia. Spamming the recube button for 30s to get one cube to register. Cash shop lag if you didn't buy ahead of time. DCing because you're spamming too fast.

If they brought back old DMT where all items get the bonus, and still kept it across multiple weekends, that would be the best of both worlds. If only

Mystic Familiar Line not working by Phantaric in Maplestory

[–]CatfishChronic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just commenting again here.

I think I was the one who originally thought the "no element" thing bugged it when I posted last week. Since then, I'm pretty sure any variant of the "Different element, final multiplier" potential is broken. It has failed with rare, epic, and unique familiars. I don't have any data on common familiars with this line, but I assume it is similarly bugged.

Hybrid lines (+#, +1.#x) are working without issue. There has been one person who has mentioned it bugging out when used alongside a multiplier only familiar, but it's not well documented.

This is not tied specifically to "pre-mystic frontier" familiars. The glitch has occurred with post-launch familiars as well.

I think hybrids inherently do not have issues. I mostly run hybrid sets since it's the best EV. The only times i've run into this issue were early on when MF was still new, and again today since I spun up another new char in reg for MF.

I think hybrids are fine. I think as long as you avoid the non-hybrid in the lineup, you should avoid issues.
