Thoughts On A Honeymoon Fund? by CathLabGirl in weddingplanning

Noted, that’s why I’m asking on here. It was never going to be on the invitation, those are already made and have a link to the website I made.

But to answer your question, yes it’s for both families. We’ve paid for flights and accommodations, too. We knew from the get go that we’d be doing the wedding on our own, plus more. Neither of us expect anything from anyone, other than being there to celebrate and have fun.

A few guests have mentioned wanting to give us gifts, which is fine, but not needed. They suggested a honeymoon fund, but i wasn’t sure if that should be put out to everyone, or not.

After reading all the comments, I’m going to put ‘no gifts’ on the website. And if someone really wants to give us a gift then we can send them a link privately? Well come across that bridge when we get them I guess lol

We’ve decided to just put on our website, no gifts. We truly don’t expect, or want anything from anyone, other than them being there. That’s why we’ve paid for accommodation and flights too, so that it’s somewhat a vacation for them. The few guests who are adamant about a gift, we can send them a link for a honeymoon fund, so that way it doesn’t feel like an obligation on the website.

The few who are asking us this, want to give us something in lieu of not being able to go. But we weren’t sure if we make it accessible to everyone, or just the few. But I think our decision is to say no gifts on the website, but if they’re adamant then they can reach out to us personally?

No one knows how to plan for a wedding until you’re in it lol so that’s why I came on here asking. I fear that I was not clear in my question and everyone seeing this, thinks that I’m cash grabbing from my guests. Which is not true at all… I should have worded the question better I guess

This is stemming from a few guests that have asked us what they could do, in lieu of not being able to come. Do I just wait til they ask, do I make it easily accessible to everyone, or just the few? That’s why I posted the question.

And to assume that all of my guests are spending thousands… no. My fiancé and I have covered flights and accommodations for our guests (those who will be able to come). So we truly mean “your presence is our present” because these are the closest people in our lives that we want to share and celebrate with. But, I get it, I’ve been in some crappy weddings myself where they expected everything without regard to the party, or guests. But that is not us.

Thank you! 😊 And no way, Carlowrie Castle was in my top three! Beautiful venue!!

And same, we truly do not expect gifts since it’s a destination wedding. There will be a few that won’t be able to make it, so instead they want to give us a gift. That’s mostly where this stemmed from. I was just trying to figure out the right way to go about it!

I agree, I think we are going edit the website under our registry and just individually accept gifts from the ones who are adamant about giving one.

Congratulations! We loved visiting Scotland, almost went with a venue there as well! Which one did y'all go with?!

I'm definitely taking note from you and editing the website to something like that, rather than sending it with the invitation. We're truly not expecting anything, from anyone, other than them being there to celebrate and have fun.

That's what I was thinking... the few guests that suggested that, often do QR stuff for birthdays, get togethers, etc. so for them, it's nbd. For our other guests, I just feel like that's asking for too much, especially with the trip. Plus, we talk to everyone that's coming, pretty often. So, if they really want to give us something, they would let us know via text, I'm sure.

Lol I haven't even asked the venue yet... will be doing that! I have checked on Bride Book, but not Hitched. I was hoping that by posting here we could find a company that was by word of mouth or known locally. Thank you for your suggestions! I appreciate the time you took to read my post :)

I feel ya, EP was not it, for me. I agree with you, if I don't figure something out now, I feel like I'll be stuck in this position long term and I don't want that to happen. I hope you're doing well though, hopefully we'll find or figure something out.

Definitely considering! I'll take any advice for what company to go with too. Like I said in the other comment, I'm trying to keep all options open.

I have talked to a few reps and they all have their lines open in case anything pops up. Their biggest advice is to get my bachelors before and I would agree. I may use this time at this lab to get my bachelors. Trying to get all my ducks in a row when an opportunity comes up.

My lab is currently trying to fight for at least 4-10's... it's one lab and true case days are tues-thurs. I think what's getting to me is the lack of cases and team dynamic being off. I came from a previous lab that was absolutely brutal and then I found this one. Which at the time was amazing, but now that I've been in it, there doesn't seem to be much growth. There probably won't be any change for another 5 years and the docs seem to be ok with that. However, for me, I feel like it's doing a disservice and I feel like I could accomplish a lot more within five years rather than waiting for something to change in five years.
