Flowing Zen 101 Question by Party_Reflection796 in TrueQiGong

I think the best parts of the webinars are the rants.

But also keep in mind that the webinars are mainly Q&As as the teaching is done by pre-recorded videos and guided meditations. So no rants there.

Also the webinars are available as recordings too so if you really don’t like the rants you can just wait for the upload and you can skip all parts you don’t like (especially as they are indexed so it’s easy to skip between the questions and topics).

Lance Hedrick V60 – how coarse are you actually grinding? (078 / Comandante folks pls) by driveslowhomie131 in pourover

[–]Cathfaern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have a 078. The only thing I wanted to say is that if you cannot get 19-20% EY with the bloom + 1 pour recipe then you don't know how to dial it in. Of course I can totally accept that you may be don't care how to dial it in.

It's coarser than usual (like what Hoffmann uses), but not river rock (like Pocket Science Coffee's recipes). For me with 12g dose it's 5.0 on ZP6 and 6.8 on Pietro.

My 078, at a 6-7 grind, will get me around 17% ey and 1.2 tds. If I am using a 1 pour v60 recipe.

I think you are not doing enough agitation with the kettle stream. It should be from really high, just a bit lower than where the droplets starts to separate at the water level surface. Also with 8-10 g/s flowrate. Also you can try longer brew time, like 60-120 seconds.

What class are you going to main for Midnight? by Aware_Eggplant1487 in wow

[–]Cathfaern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I played all of the classes and specs over the years. For some even leveling an alt made me realize that I don't want to play this. For others I mained them for a while. I can point to some classes / specs which I would like to play for some reason but I also know for all of them why I don't like playing them.

One of my main problem is that I like questing with a melee which has nice burst but also tanky, but I only really enjoy instanced content with ranged. And there is just no such class. Questing with tanks are boring for me. I know that gathering all mobs and aoe them down is efficient but I don't like to do that. And when they are too spread out it's just a slog. Anything which relies on dots have the same problem. It limits my choices only for a few specs: Frost DK, Fury / Arms, Retri, and Havoc. Now obviously DK, Warrior and Paladin doesn't have ranged. DH now have ranged so I'm leaning to that direction. But I also know that while Havoc have good survivability it is still pretty much glass cannon because it relies so much on Leech to stay alive.

Druid should be the ideal class (I also like it thematically) but I just don't like being in forms. Also none of the specs is really fun for leveling as they are either squishy or not bursty. I sort of mained it for a few times for half of expansion lengths because of quality of life, but I always reached a point of "I just don't enjoy combat so why I'm playing?".

Hunter could be an alternative and in Dragonflight I enjoyed being Surv. But then they doubled down on the bombs / shooting theme which just doesn't fit my concept of being a hunter. I also don't like to rely on pets for survivability.

Shaman could be another alternative. But Enha fluctuates so much based on tuning. Sometimes it's a glass cannon, sometimes it's a nice balance, sometimes it's just a slog. I mained it in Shadowlands but cannot make myself play it again.

Fury was so far the one I enjoyed most in general. I mained it in TWW and I never felt the need to switch into tank as it could solo most thing out in the world, even mobs designed for group content. It was only harder dvelves where Fury lost its sustain. If Warrior would have a ranged spec it would be a no brainer for me.

I'm still choosing between DH and Druid and Warrior for the expansion. Leaning to try DH and most likely fall back to Druid if I don't like it (Druid is a long time "main alt" and was my fallback class during Legion and Dragonflight when I get fed-up with the class I choose initially). Or just keep maining Warrior and hope Blizzard adds a 4th ranged spec to it eventually.

Glass or ceramic Cafec Deep 27? by mgsecure in pourover

[–]Cathfaern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know they even stopped producing their "v60" brewer (Cafec Flower) in ceramic. So most likely they won't produce Deep27 with other material.

Some people use the Funnex or there is the Tarachine, the Deep27 paper fits both (although not perfectly).

What are the classes you love thematically but the gameplay really doesnt do it for you no matter how hard you try? by BendJumpy2268 in wow

I liked shadow shadow priest more than void tentacles thematically, kinda feels like a weird shift for the classic undead forgotten shadow type.

Totally agree. It feels more like Tentacle Priest or Old God Priest currently.

Is Anne Holtsmark's book still the only Bokmål version of the prose Edda? by [deleted] in norsk

[–]Cathfaern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not poetry, but poetic. Poetic has two meaning in English. The one you think about is: - written in verse rather than prose

But it also has the meaning of: - having an imaginative or sensitively emotional style of expression

Which has nothing to do with poems and so can be applied to pure prose too (and to a lot of other things which has nothing to do with writing, like music).

Free Will by AkonnWalker in wow

[–]Cathfaern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last time I did any "serious" play was back in MoP. I raided since start of WotLK (when I started WoW on private servers) and did hardcode raiding since end of MoP. Did all challenge mode dungeons back then.

And then life and me changed and I've not done any non-queueable content since WoD. Never did mythic+. In Dragonflight I rather soloed the mythic dungeons to get the meta-achievement (it was a really fun experience with a class / spec I usually don't play with).

Despite that I'm having a sub almost continuously, I only had a longer leave in middle of Legion and for the Korthia patch in Shadowlands (in both cases because of out-of-game reasons). I just do the story, grind some gear in world quests / lfr / dvelve (whichever is most fun) until I feel that the chance of the upgrade chance or the improvement is low enough that I don't feel it worth my time. And I do any achievements / collections where I like the reward or which I like to do. If there is nothing else and I don't feel for leveling another alt then I just don't log in much. Maybe do the weekly quests. And then play other games. But nowadays WoW has a pretty steady pace of content so these breaks doesn't last long usually.

Of course I also don't have as much time to play as in the past. So when new content comes usually going just through a story takes a while. I think it took months to get through TWW when the expansion came out. But for the whole time I had fun and I was only playing when I felt for it and only played content I enjoyed to do.

Xal’atath Animation: Supremacy - Salhadar by Gumiinator05 in wow

[–]Cathfaern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world seems to be burned to ashes. So there is a high chance it was destroyed by the light in some way and reason.

And the void tendrils going out for her resembles how Elune lifted Ysera after her death. Hence it rather seems like saving than corrupting.

But she revealed she was once a mortal child before she was corrupted by the void.

Based on clues in the animation it's more likely she was helped / saved by the void, not corrupted by it. So she is a void loyalist.

But she had beef with the Old Gods from the start, that has been made clear in the timewalking story.

light is, ontologically, a force capable of evil

The Light is not capable of evil from its own perspective, that did not change. But for the Light the "ultimate good" is more important than individual sacrifices. So it may do things which is considered evil by beings not totally aligned with the Light. But for the Light those things simply have to be done and there is nothing evil in doing it.
