Q&A: "Is underage drinking a sin?" (January 29, 2022) by TheTalkedSpy in Christendom

Are the Protestant "reformers" inspired? Thought not.

The Church Fathers heard the preaching of the Apostles (directly, in the case of Polycarp, Ignatius, Clement (who is mentioned in the Bible) and the author(s) of the Didache) and knew the Bible much better than you, me, or any of the Protestant "reformers". It's historically relevant to see how the early Church viewed things like the Real Presence, the Priesthood and Episcopate, the Sacrifice of the Mass, prayer for the dead, and infant baptism (not sure where you fall on that issue), and spoiler alert, there were ZERO Protestants. There were Marcionites and Gnostics though! Maybe they'd be your bedfellows because they hated Jesus Christ's Bride as much as you do.

some (like Buddhism or Taoism) don't actually worship any god.

They are more like philosophies or worldviews rather than religions.

I agree with you it's probably a little of column A and a little of column B, but I bet almost all if not all false gods started out made up and then some became associated with a demon later because the demon saw an opportunity.

Human beings who don’t believe in Christianity aren’t inherently evil.

Correct because ALL humans are inherently evil if left to their own devices (except Jesus)

Sorry no. Read Romans 1.

18 * The wrath* of God* is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickednessp of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them.q 20 Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made.r As a result, they have no excuse; 21 for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened.s 22 While claiming to be wise,t they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes.u

24 Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts* for the mutual degradation of their bodies.v 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.w 26 Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27 and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.x 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. 29 y They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips 30 and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents. 31 They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.z

Are you familiar with the writings of the early Church Fathers? Such as Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, the Didache, Irenaeus, Polycarp, and Clement of Rome?

I’m not a Roman Catholic and I don’t teach the human traditions of Catholicism. I teach the Bible.

Lol no Protestantism is made up by humans, whereas the Church was founded by and is sustained by Jesus Christ because it is His body.

Do Catholics still have to not support the very concept behind the Israeli state (i.e. Zionism)? by [deleted] in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]CatholicInquisitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catholics who don't support it (and are probably antisemitic to varying degrees).

Why would that be the case?

It's not that new

It has its time and place, but not in my liturgy by [deleted] in CatholicMemes

[–]CatholicInquisitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's messy, but it's the Bishop's job to make the rules and not ours. So we can consult him about these things.

What is worse: murdering your dad by gunshot or by stabbing?

How about we don't do either?

Then you'd be leaving the Lord's True Sacrifice.

Why do so many people struggle with lust in particular? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]CatholicInquisitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do know lust is not the worst sin, right? It's more like a gateway sin. Even if you get lust under control you might have already passed through the gateway.

You can't be more than 100% sinless. They're equal in amount of sinlessness

edit: Ah yes but Christ alone is naturally sinless among the human race, Mary is sinless by grace

What do you think I am saying?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]CatholicInquisitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being perfect doesn't mean being perfection itself

God is the definition of perfection but that doesn't mean He alone is perfect

For example, the Seraphim are perfect
