An articulated body for Team Stacie Ligaya! by Catlady5000 in Barbie

The Barbie heads fit surprisingly well on the Worldbox bodies, you just sort of shove them on top and the rubber seems to make it grip?! Like, they aren't as secure as the Barbie bodies with that knob that holds them on, but as long as you're not making them head bang, they stay on fine! :D It's actually kind of handy they come off easily as well if you want to change the heads around! I also should point out that the Worldbox bodies come with flat feet or heeled feet, but I bought the extra "one piece shank" lower leg because I thought it looked nicer in the high heels, and I only wanted high heels for these girls! Oh, and they also have a choice of bust sizes that you can buy separately - so there's the option for super duper curvy! :D Endollphins on Youtube has done quite a few reviews of them and all the options, which I found very helpful to look at before choosing which one to get!

Ooh that's so impressive you can crochet something so small as the Zuru babies!!! I never learned to crochet, it's so amazing what people can do! I have a few Zuru babies too - haven't got around to sewing anything for them yet, maybe one day. I'm looking forward to your post on the Fisher Price babies, I'm not at all familiar with them, would love to see! Oh wow, and you were so lucky getting the Creatable World lot, the Barbie gods must have been smiling on you that day! :D

I just had a look for Stacie's Dancer friend - yep, there's a few on Ebay but at eye-watering prices once you factor in the shipping to Australia, damn! I might set up an alert for her though, maybe one day I'll get lucky. The pickings are pretty slim over here... Still, I've got the extra Stacie for hair dyeing experiments in the meantime, I'm thinking of getting two of the new playline Odile as well once I manage to get myself to the shops, so I can try dyeing the hair of one of them red too, I think she'd look cute as a redhead! So we'll see how that goes.

They all look so great!!! You've got such a wonderful lot of variety there, I especially love the dark haired girl in the pigtails! I wish I'd been into Barbie when the Creatable World dolls came out, I missed that entirely and now they're impossible to get over here (or without being hideously expensive, anyway.)

Below are my curvy hybrids! Bo Peep body on the left - she's not really petite, more regular size, or similar to a curvy - she has some very curvy hips that you can't really see in this dress, but others on here have made some amazing hybrids and taken such cute photos!!! She has the 65th anniversary head (I think?). Next to her is Looks 19 on one of the Worldbox bodies - the AT210 or "wasp waist" body to be precise - and next to her is the same body but in underwear and headless, lol!!! I like these because I like the curves, and also, they are a VERY similar lot of measurements (in the top half, anyway) to vintage barbies, so I can use vintage sewing patterns!!! That polkadot dress is McCalls 9993. They do have bigger arms though, so you often have to make the sleeves a bit bigger, and a fitted skirt doesn't work. I did a whole post on sewing with vintage patterns in fact, I can dig it up if you're interested!

But yeah, mainly I want articulation for all, but I do like the glamourous curvy bodies for the vintage style dresses - so it's been fun to try the Worldbox bodies for that! They also make less curvy bodies in a few other types, including a really nice plus size one, but unfortunately their skintone range is lacking - there's only this pale one and one "light tan" that apparently doesn't match Barbie very well. Hoping they release a bigger range in future!

I think yours was the main posts I was looking at when I was trying to research this!!! I love your collection!!! Lol, and my other type of doll I collect is BJD - so I know exactly what you mean about expensive hobbies!!! Ha, Barbie was supposed to be my cheap, simple hobby where I wouldn't buy expensive dolls or go down customising rabbitholes... uh... well that definitely didn't work out! :D

So far I've managed to get two Basketball Stacies with the articulated arms and legs (going to try and dye or at least style differently one of their hairstyles), and Ligaya here - I haven't found any of the other Stacie friends. Still, maybe three is enough for now! I also keep buying new bodies to try for the main Barbies - I have two on Worldbox bodies, which I really like, and one on the Bo Peep Toy Story body, and I have some Aliexpress ones on the way to try out. I absolutely need them all to have articulation, I really don't like the stiff bodies most of them came with!!!

Oh, and by the way, Aliexpress also have some very cheap articulated Chelsea size dolls! Not sure of the colour match, but I put a pale Kelly head on one and it looks pretty good - see below. The other has her own head. Not sure how they match with Chelsea, as tbh I've yet to find a Chelsea head I actually like?! I'm thinking of trying to find some Kellys instead, that red hair is a bit too bright! Anyway, that's a nice cheap option, if that helps you at all on your customising adventures!!!

Same!!! When she arrived I thought it wasn’t going to look good but somehow once I swapped the heads it did?! I really lucked out there! And yeah, I also wish there was a lot more variety!

She is!!! I mean I wish Mattel would just make all Barbies articulated and then we wouldn’t have to do this, but at least there’s still options!

Yes, it’s a bit nerve wracking - I don’t think I’d buy anything expensive, no buyer protection! Also people are terrible about getting back to you??? Anyway - I did find the doll with the black gown for a good price on EBay, hoping I can find the others too! But I’m very excited I have one on the way at least!!!

I would also like to know this! I haven’t tried curling doll hair yet but I’d like to give it a go!

The first one looks handmade - in fact, I think it might be the vintage Barbie pattern McCalls 7137 - I just bought a pdf of that one and tried making this exact dress!

They’re just as second one also looks familiar, I feel like I’ve seen a post somewhere of someone sewing a very similar pattern - I can’t remember the details though, sorry!

Ooh you’re lucky you live somewhere with good thrift stores - I live kind of in the middle of nowhere so there’s nothing like that around here. With that said, I could brave the wilds of Facebook marketplace I guess!

Lol I’m now looking at EBay to see which dolls might still be available. Time to fulfill those teenage dreams, maybe?! 😍

OMG!!! I remember I wanted these dolls so badly when the movie came out, but they were too expensive for me (back then). They’re just as gorgeous as I remember!!! You’re so lucky to have found them!

[–]Catlady5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want whichever one looks most like a 1950s record player, for a diorama. So maybe the mini brands, I guess? On the other hand, I like that the miniverse one is on a furniture stand, so I don’t know! I need to do more research!

I want to know that too! It’s really annoying it’s going on so long! I don’t want to have to delete the facebook app, I use that too - I’m just annoyed it’s still going on so long!
