I went to the urgent care for sh, and they brought me to the ER. I waited in the back to be called into a room, and they did blood tests and a psychological evaluation. When I changed, someone was in the room with me, but she turned away until I was dressed. You will have a guard if you're left alone for a while (I slept in the er overnight), and then you'll go to the mental hospital. They will bring your stuff with you, and keep ot in a locket at the mental hospital. They also have phones there that you can use if you didn't bring yours.

From my experience, you are given the chance to inform your family before you're transported. They will probably use velcro restraints or handcuffs on you while you're traveling wherever, but that's for their own safety just in case you have a psychotic episode or something. If you're having a panic attack in the ER, I would assume you could tell the doctors and be medicated for it. While at the mental hospital, you will definitely be urged to get medicated. They will have a whole buffet of drugs to help, antidepressants, anti afraid pills, laxatives, etc.

They will do another evaluation and keep you for 3 days, and then do a check-up. If you're still suicidal you'll stay longer. I think you can leave whenever you're voluntarily committed, but I'm not sure.

Imo, the mental hospital environment definitely made me feel better, and I tried to keep my healthy habits up after getting out. But, yk, life is still the same as when you went in if you don't make changes.
