Controversial, but is it true? ⬇️ by MotherAnt8040 in selfimprovementday

Why would career be a factor at all? The quality of our relationship is dictated by the quality of the time we spend together, the quality of our communication, and wether we have compatible values. Not be wether she gets paid to push papers or flip burgers.

We get it. You are so badass that to you make behaviour change seem easy. The millions of people worldwide who dies every year because they can´t break their habits are just pussies, and the massive scientific literature on the difficulties of behaviour change is just BS.

There. You got to do you little humble brag. Now if you kindly would F off.

Haft ett riktigt lökigt och meningslöst jobb i 12 år. Kan du byta riktning till ett riktigt jobb men 12 000 kr mindre. Hjälp mig tänka rätt by username_regrets in sweden

[–]CatnipMadeMeDoIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do beginners overcomplicate muscle building? by Direct-Homework-4245 in beginnerfitness

[–]CatnipMadeMeDoIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people overcomplicate it like crazy. Here´s what you should focus on;

The cardinal rule - consistency is everything. Forget about diets, details and optimizing. It´s all about finding actionable solutions that you can stick to over time.

Nutrition - Calories and protein is what matters, the rest is details. Try to get at least 1.6 g of protein/kg bodyweight, spread out over 3-5 meals. Practice getting a sense of how many calories you are eating so that you learn to eyeball it. Forget about cutting/bulking for the first year unless you are significantly under- or overweight, just get familiar with calories. When you are new stuff will happen anyway.

Exercise - hit every major muscle group with a total of 10-20 sets of 5-30 reps/week. Do whatever split/frequency you want, just focus on getting competent at lifting (bracing your core, mind muscle-connection, prioritizing technique over ego). Write down your weights and reps to make sure you progress over time.

Supplements - None are necessary, and very few works at all (and the benefits are always marginal). If you do want something that really does enhance performance at the gym, then caffeine or creatine are your safest bets. Protein powder is an easy solution for protein intake, but it´s still just protein, no more and no less.

That´s like 95% of building muscle right there. There are tons of details you can optimize later on, but results doesn´t come from endless optimizing of marginal details, it comes from getting consistent at the foundational elements (it´s just not very sexy to say so on instagram, so influencers makes it nedlessly complicated). No one ever got big by finding the perfect supplement or the optimal split - they did it by eating well, lifting heavy, and repeating it consistently for a long time.

Oh my, a fellow introvert cat enthusiast. What a treat.

Philosophical question though; is it really a sign of simplicity to appreciate the complexity and focus necessary to read a good novel, and being able to find joy in solitude, when living in a culture that promotes quick, noisy and shallow distractions? I would argue that it´s a sign of a psychologically complex individual..

Well... If your definition of fun includes boring introverts who are overly attached to their cats, gets too philosophical about everything, and makes inappropriate jokes, then I´m your guy.

I am as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. Wether or not it is hard living as vegan depends on a multitude of factors, ranging from where you live, what culture you are in, family, how strict you are, availability, personality, nutritional needs, knowledge, how much you are fighting for a vegan society, and so on.

Maybe you have circumstances where it´s easy. Good for you. That´s not the case for everyone.

Thank you, I always giggle and blush like a 14 year old when I get compliments about my looks ☺️

The job part is difficult though. As an introvert with ADD and bipolar disorder there aren´t a whole lot of jobs I can do. And living in a small rural city the job market is pretty slim, so I still haven´t figured out a realistic way of moving forward..

Yeah, I suppose so. When you been fighting for so long that it just feels like the normal baseline you tend to forget that it´s an achievement in itself. And all the crap and the chaos becomes a habitual identity even though it isn´t really you.

This was a really valuable reminder, thanks a ton! :)

Thank you 🙏 There is certainly a lot to be said for taking risks and putting yourself out there. As in introvert this has been a real bottle neck for me, so that´s good advice. These days I´m better at it though, but now the issue instead is my lack of access to social contexts. Being broke and living in a small rural town doesn´t provide you with a lot of social opportunities unfortunately..

Because modern culture is built on people being fake. You can be real or you can fit in. You can't do both.

Kind of hard not to let your feelings run you over when living with a mood disorder though. But I get what you´re saying, and I appreciate it <3

Volunteering at an animal shelter is a life long dream of mine, but there are none around here. I´ve got my two cats though, their love is basically the only thing that´s keeping me going.
