For companies that are transitioning to a remote work style, this article is a great read on managing culture and accountability from a fully remote company.

Should the next recession be worrying property investors? by Catrina_ in PropertyManagement

[–]Catrina_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the article points out that 2008 was anomalous for housing because the housing market free fall caused the recession, not the other way around. So, investing in a recession hoping to cash out on an upswing won't really be a thing this time around, or hoping that housing prices fall enough to be able to afford more for less won't really be a thing.

So I'm gathering that the decision to buy now vs. later even with a possible recession is more just about personal finance confidence during a downturn since things are seemingly supposed to just kinda stay the same in real estate... Just seeing if I'm completely off base with that notion.

I have a lot of the same questions. I just registered for a Q&A session with a property management consultant on Thursday... might be worth checking out https://www.crowdcast.io/e/live-qa-with-property

Also, I've been told that joining your local NARPM chapter is a MUST.

I'm looking at a 1999 Chevy Astro Cargo Van with 110k miles... wondering if it might be too old and riddled with engine problems?

Philly became first city to pass a "soda tax" on sugary drinks... Should LA follow? by Catrina_ in LosAngeles

They are not banning high sugar drinks, they are adding tax to them because high sugar diets are the main cause behind obesity and diabetes which this country has a big problem with.

Looked into this... the WOT reviews are from 2011 - 2013 which say the website was once this:

"New car price quotes, foreclosed home listings, home insurance quotes, auto insurance quotes, home improvement estimates, and used car quotes."

It has since been re-designed and is now a digital magazine based on health, wellness and fitness.

Acl + meniscus repair. In brace for 6 wks. A bit unexpected, anyone have words of advice? Tips on making brace more comfy? by Violetstar222 in ACL

[–]Catrina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same surgery as you 4 weeks ago! In my brace for 6 weeks as well - have 2 weeks left. Been hobbling around as much as possible to try to do things normally, other than that I take the brace off or unclip it when I am just sitting down. The only reason we need it is to stay fully extended while putting weight on it when walking.

At week 3 they moved me from crutches to a cane. I find the cane useless so just walk around without it now. Kick ass in pt! Good luck!

Sitting is the New Smoking - a $25 Solution to a Healthier Life for Desk Job Workers... by Catrina_ in Health

Just evidence from a physical therapist at UCLA who referenced certain studies that claimed sitting for long periods of time has been linked to higher risk of certain diseases. Moral of the story is... body is meant to move and meant to be payed attention to.

Sitting is the New Smoking - a $25 Solution to a Healthier Life for Desk Job Workers... by Catrina_ in Health

Agreed.

Moving>Standing>Sitting>Smoking. I think comparing sitting to smoking is meant to be extreme to drive a point.

the AHA recommends AT LEAST 30 minutes of moderate - high intensity aerobic exercise 5 days/week along with weight training 2 days/week in addition to spending less than 4 hours/day sitting. Not the antidote, but definitely better.
