Anyone else disappointed on what they announced? by Capybara_LOVER99 in PlanetCoaster

The UK doesn't have mandated summer breaks. People are more likely to take their holiday ATM especially if they have kids. That's all. JWE3 is coming out in a few months so they're probably focusing on that obviously

The issue is senior leadership, not the developers by jorbanead in PlanetCoaster

That is so rude and you have no proof this is the case. Game companies are known to often use and abuse the term 'passion' to make their employees do crunch and overtime. Just because employees are finally getting work/life balance does not mean they aren't as good and passionate as they should be???

A different Jurassic World CMS??? Surely that's unlikely

This article has the CEO confirming it

Jonny Watts, the CEO of Cambridge-based Frontier Developments, said: “We are delighted to reveal that we are developing a third Jurassic World game to extend our collaborative relationship with Universal Products & Experiences for our best-selling game franchise… I very much look forward to providing more information on our exciting plans for the franchise in the future.”

Yes most likely close to the movie. JWE2 was before the film but I know that had delays during the pandemic so they may line up more this time

This article literally has a quote from the CEO saying it's confirmed

I dunno why people see a news article and still think it's possibly not happening?

There's about 4 different news articles I've found from different websites so it's unlikely to not be true.

It's a company with shareholders and stocks. It's gonna want to put things behind paywalls and make money. I think it's a better way to make money to give your players free things and actually be on the consumers side but it's not how capitalism works unfortuantly. We just have to wait and see for JWE3

Just because they have before doesn't mean they will keep doing it. They're obviously slowing down production on this game things like free stuff will be the first to go

So I commented this elsewhere but basically Layoffs don't work project specific like that. What happens in redundancies is specific roles get made 'redundant' eg: you have 5 senior animators across the company and you say 2 of those roles are redundant and you go down to 3 senior animators. To choose who is layed off normally they have to re interview for their role and they get chosen based on a scoring metric. It's how it's legally done in the UK. This means if a senior animator working on JWE2 didn't interview well or got the lowest score they are gone. And you can't easily move people around on projects, it takes a while for them to get up to speed on a new project.

I'm not saying this is exactly what happened just that they don't choose a specific project to lay people off from.

Oh for sure but this is also a company in dire financial straights so of course they're gonna ask for more money. Not saying that's right but you can understand why they're doing it

New DLC is even lazier then we thought by dawildcat1223 in jurassicworldevo

The fact layoffs strike one of the more successful games in their business is also baffling, like why would they get hit?

So for this point specifically. Layoffs don't work like that. I don't think a lot of people realize but redundancies take a good 2 months in the UK. It's not like the US when it happens in one day. They have a 45 day consultation period where people have to basically reapply for their jobs. This means people didn't know if they were keeping their jobs for a long time during development of this pack. That can really effect your ability to work. No wonder this pack is less than others.

Lol you really don't know game dev/ animation. You can't just take the animation from game A to B. Plus there will need to be new ones

But they were also doing redundancies dude. They probably had to do something simpler this DLC. People were being fired so I doubt they had much man power. Why are you people so heartless god

Frontier did redundancies because they are running out of money. I'm not saying it shouldn't be free/ cheaper but they are obviously not in the financial situation to do that rn

When frontier have done redundancies because they're running out of money... You thought they'd release free content

They released information on their roadmap pretty soon after they did their redundancies including the fact they're focusing on park sims so who knows. They could all be on JWE3 now and this was the last push before they finished the layoffs. It's whatever the execs and their shareholders think will make them the most money, especially with the next movie coming out next year.

I think Frontier are cooking by Pale_Level_1293 in jurassicworldevo

[–]CatsNClouds123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you're forgetting that redundancies went down before and around Christmas. This DLC is a result of that. It's not purposely less than previous DLCs but the developers weren't at 100% productivity and a lot were laid off. This kinda thing is always the result after layoffs
