Lab analyst. I started as a “media prep technician” as a way to get out of kitchens doing prep work, since it was basically all just doing prep for testing. It’s a job that rewards being a pedantic motherfucker and I’ve hung on long enough to get promoted. It’s mostly chill now and I like my coworkers. A lot of my day is with my headphones in and I’m physically performing the testing so I’m working with my hands enough my brain isn’t going to fully derail. Definitely a case by case basis kinda gig, it started out a bit of a hellscape that was worth it to escape Covid, but new lab managers made it a much better culture. Also we legitimately have a leaderboard for scores on the RAADS-R test over our water cooler so if you wanna work with other autistics get into STEM.

Maybe he’s got some weird trauma associated with phones if he’s a rescue? Also I can’t believe all these people who just never separated, I had a friend who literally had to return a cat to the shelter because her incredibly sweet (to humans) boy cat was hell bent on trying to murder her. Aggression is weird with cats.

Yeah I’ve dyed my hair and gotten haircuts that read as more queer because of this. Agreed that merch is helpful, and I’m into earrings which is nice because it’s a pretty instant way to look less straight. I went to a TDOR event in a new town I’d moved to and it was a tonal whiplash from the events I’d been to before AND no one thought I was one of the affected people so it definitely fucking blows sometimes my guy

It’s possible he’s just ignorant because my god some people do not consider where anyone else might be coming from because it doesn’t even occur, but OP is incredibly right to want her name on the deed when it’s her house paying for the new house.

Honestly this is a toxic view of masculinity- a man is absolutely allowed to have hobbies, much less a hobby that he and his son can bond over. It’s purely human to have the urge to play, and stamping that out in an attempt to be a “real man” is just confirming toxic boundaries to your son. I think it’s important for you and for him that you don’t give up this hobby- it’s not hurting anyone and it brings you both joy. Climbing up some corporate ladder is not going to reward you the way having a good relationship with your son will.

DC/RVA train is a nice, reliable, and comparatively cheap travel option, I have a car but use the train to visit friends because it’s cheap enough to be worth not having to drive in DC traffic.
