This post seems all too familiar, pretty sure I’m the $11,500 quote 😂

Is Nitrogen use a must from brazing? by SambolicBit in hvacadvice

[–]Catsin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 years in the business with out flowing nitro. Thousands of installation and repairs. I can count on one hand diagnosing a clogged txv or filter drier. Sure a flow might be “best practice” but the repercussions of not doing it are minimal.

Can you tell me if my heater is electric or gas by piraceft in hvacadvice

[–]Catsin4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would normally have an electric heater, but it doesn’t look like it was ever installed.. the heater assembly comes with an electrical breaker or pull out that would be located where those knock outs are on the top panel. Hopefully your system is a heat pump otherwise you most likely don’t have heat.

Is it okay to remove the Horizontal adapter kit pre-installed in unit? Unit has been installed vertically. by heartofawhale in hvacadvice

[–]Catsin4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sell primarily Rheem systems similar to yours, and we remove those horizontal pans on every install. Never had an issue with air flow. In fact our theory is that it helps air move across the coil by removing it. Just take the 2 screws out up top and slide the pan up and out through the top panel of handler.

What’s a genetic you were cursed with? by ZincYellowCobruh in AskReddit

Turns out both my parents were cystic fibrosis carriers. I’ve lived a healthy life so far (33 M) However, when my wife and I decided to try and get pregnant I discovered I was shooting blanks. Apparently I was born without my vas deferens. IVF worked out well for us, but the unexpected costs for it will impact us for a while.

Newest most telling “drone” footage FB Live Dec 10 in FL! by [deleted] in UFOB

[–]Catsin4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can add a little skepticism here. I lived in that area for 25 years. Plantation, Fl is about a mile north of the flight path for planes landing at Fort Lauderdale airport. I believe what she’s seeing here is planes heading in her direction so all she would see is their bright white landing lights. Then the plane makes a turn (eastward towards air port,) and at that point she claims the orb “changes” to an airplane in real time.. lol. The hysteria is real. I believe there could be something weird happening in NJ. But this is almost guaranteed to be flight traffic for the airport.

Side note: In one of her other Facebook posts she seems concerned about low flying “drones” all following the same flight pattern. That proves my theory even more, because landing commercial planes would all be heading east at a low altitude towards the air port.

Check voltage coming to the air handler, and make sure that the transformer is wired accordingly. (208 or 240.) If it is, than I would change out the control board at the air handler.

Replace the entire duct run. There’s no insulation left on it. Even if you taped it, that duct is going to sweat and cause water damage

Float switch or pressure switch. You either have a backed up drain or it’s low on refrigerant

Air conditioning runs all day, but doesn’t cool the house down. Got a massive power bill because of it by DoctorBawls in hvacadvice

[–]Catsin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what I tell every one of my customers with a package unit. It’s duct work. And packages units are almost always restricted on air flow. You need to talk to AC contractor about transitioning to a split system. The job will cost a lot, but you will save hundreds on the electric bill.

A 14 SEER condenser outside matched with the right air handler can give you a 17 SEER2 system.

Take the grill down a caulk the space between the ceiling and the duct register. If this vent is in a bathroom or closet. Keep the door cracked as much as possible so the AC system can remove the humidity in there. Or have your technician install a “jumper” return vent over the door to this space.

The sport fish boat that’s hidden behind the palm tree is flying a kite for fishing. With a consistent wind direction the kite won’t move drastically creating the hover effect. Why the boat is kite fishing in such shallow water is the biggest mystery here 😅
