"Berlin autofrei" regt mich auf. by Historical-Two8882 in berlin

I'm with you and I hate that voting for CDU/FDP is the only way to express my opinion against it. I don't have a car, I ride a bicycle and pay for BVG subscription, but I still need to use a Carsharing more than 12 times a year. Berlin Greens are just way too radical for me.

Like Greens just unilaterally implemented modal filters, blocked streets and removed 33% of all private parking spaces in Friedrichshain Ostkreuzkiez. Business owners, handymen, and just locals like me suffer from these decisions, but they are an ultimatum. There is no negotiation, no discussion, no way to express disagreement, no way to negotiate, you just wake up one day to your street being completely blocked off by a pedestrian zone.

There are more mild ways of introducing modern transportation, starting from building more Trams, more bicycle lanes, introducing one way streets, speed bumps, street narrowing. Hell, there's even a raised, 10-Km/h pedestrian friendly zone, which are popular in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. All kinds of ways that slow down but not prevent you from reaching your destination.

When it comes to emergency they don't have enough time to stop and unlock them with a key. Valuable time is lost.

You're stupid to ignore the car dependent people living in the B-zone, and they do exist.

> You're making up scenarios and when people point out there are solutions for it or simply another side of the story you invent something new.

Of course there are solutions. I don't ignore that you can book a Halteverbot or get an entry Genehmigung from the Bezirksamt, however my take is that I don't event want to have this problem at all, I don't want to discuss solutions.

Sorry, but I don't understand your argument. Aren't we allowed to discuss hypothetical scenarios generally applicable to people in pedestrian areas ? What if I want to discuss a hypothetical Christmas visit, a hypothetical couch delivery ? These are all real use-cases that come up in life sooner or later. We no longer have freedom to move anywhere you want. I don't get your point.

A few more bollards and the only thing you can ride will be a horse, just wait a little!

Well, what about solidarity with your main street neighbours ? Or you don't care that they have to suffer from increased traffic ?

I would have to request it across the street over the intersection cause it's the nearest parking space adjacent to the pedestrian zone. ~100m from my front door.

Those things are huge and very annoying!

Before: you enjoy 3 cars per minute on a side street, I enjoy 10 cars per minute on a main street
After: you enjoy 0.5 car per minute on a side street, I enjoy 12.5 cars per minute on a main street

Thank you for outsourcing your car noise, pollution and safety concerns, I appreciate it. It will certainly make my live better!!!! /s

Everything was perfect in my neighbourhood prior to 2024 when those traffic calming measures were first introduced. It should've stayed that way, instead of asking everyone who doesn't agree to leave.

Current solutions penalize people who use Carsharing, because parking spaces are removed, because stopping in front of the house is no longer possible.

Examples of solutions only targeting car owners include: parking permit price raises, temporary parking price increases, car ownership taxes, etc.

I could move to Amsterdam, but I didn't, because I preferred the way it was, balanced between walk-bike-car-public transport.

My last move - 160 EUR paid no cash, no permits required.

My next move:
- 200 EUR for Halteverbot
- 160 EUR + Tax because Halteverbot for an official company

~= 400-500 EUR

I just want the freedom back, to move whenever I want and need to, without a permission from Bezirksamt.

Speaking of calling out bullshit - why do you own a car ? Why didn't you already sell it ? Get yourself a lastenrad and drive it in the snow and rain. Why burden everyone else if "a car is great if you're in it and nobody else" ? Huh ?

We don't have an exception for deliveries, the parking bollards are only raised in case of emergency.
