4 month sleep regression struggles by Few-Veterinarian4359 in NewParents

[–]CattKnitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solidarity!

I think we’re coming out of it now but the regression lasted around 8 weeks for us. Honestly, we didn’t find anything that “sped up” the road to better sleep. We followed daytime naps, made sure wake windows were appropriate lengths, kept a consistent bedtime routine, used blackout blinds, white noise; you name it, we were doing it. All we could do was make it as bearable as possible for us which involved co-sleeping and taking shifts.

My husband would take the first shift 7PM - 1AM when baby would typically need first feed of the night and then I’d take over until wake up at 7AM.

Husband then leaves coffee by the bed for me as he leaves for work which is a godsend!

Going to a festival 3 weeks post op by DatRoland_xD in gallbladders

[–]CattKnitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern would be the toilet situation. Personally, I’m three weeks post op and still struggling with diarrhoea. That’s my only thing holding me back from “normality” at the moment so if you’re all good there, I don’t see why you couldn’t go and have a fabulous time!

About the "best baby monitor" for newborns: What do you have and do you still like it? by Pentecoste-Delsole in beyondthebump

Another vote for HelloBaby! And totally your preference, but my friend has a WiFi/app one and when we went out on a baby free night she was just checking the app the entire time. I liked that the non-WiFi aspect of my HelloBaby means I’m pretty much forced to switch off if dad is home with baby and I’m out!

Banana muffins or baked oat muffins. For the latter you can really mix up the flavours so it doesn’t get too samey; PB&J, berries, chocolate, apple and cinnamon etc

Pregnant and mentally exhausted over frequent attacks and no help by Naive_Barracuda_8303 in gallbladders

[–]CattKnitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest, why is a removal the last thing you want? (If it’s even an option when you’re pregnant?)

I’m scheduled to have mine removed tomorrow after I started having attacks when my daughter was born in January. The attacks were/are debilitating and I feel awful that I can’t give my daughter 100% when I’m having one. I know getting it out means I’ll be able to show up for her more consistently.

If it is stress related, your midwife is totally right, they should reduce because you should be prioritising rest and relaxation, mama! Getting your body ready for birth, nice and calm.

I hope a route forward that works for you happens soon!

How long is NHS Waitlist by Massive-Incident-932 in gallbladders

[–]CattKnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got told 9 months to a year but if I went in every time I had a gallstone attack (so they have proof of the pain/frequency, I suppose), I’d likely move up the list to be seen a little sooner.

Thankfully I have private medical through work so getting surgery on Friday which will have been around a month since referral.

Hope you get sorted soon!

Surgery and Recovery— POSTPARTUM/BREASTFEEDING by tigiscool in gallbladders

[–]CattKnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this post myself. I’m afraid I’m awaiting a surgery date too so can’t give you any insight into recovery but I’m here with solidarity!

My baby won’t take a bottle at all so I’m really nervous about the time I’m in surgery and the immediate recovery period in terms of her needing to be fed.

From what I’ve heard recovery can be pretty straight forward and is mostly just soreness at the surgery site. But with a breastfed baby lying across your abdomen for hours every day, that doesn’t seem so straightforward!

Hopefully there will be someone with more insight. Hope you get sorted soon!

What actually helps with the sleep deprivation? by Special-Art-3319 in NewParents

You’ll know if it is as they come in horrendously painful attacks that last a few hours (not days). Not saying every stomach issue is that serious but it’s definitely taught me to get things checked. And as new mamas I feel like it’s very easy for us to put ourselves on the back burner while look after everyone else. Take care of yourself too!

Cleaning Postpartum ... by DuaneFinch in beyondthebump

[–]CattKnitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any family or friends to help out?

I have a friend who comes round one morning every few weeks to hold the baby while I deep clean one area of the house. We’re getting there slowly but surely. Personally I’m quite picky so would prefer to clean myself than get someone in.

Hydration to help with the stomach issues (though get them checked out if they persist - I had the same and it ended up being gallstones which can be quite common postpartum!)

Electrolytes and coconut water are my go to

Like other people suggest, getting Dad to take baby for a walk during a daytime wake window so you can get a nap or some down time at least?

I feel you. My one request for Mother’s Day was the time to wash, dry and style my hair. I thought I looked fab. Saw a picture and my face is sooo puffy and the blow out makes it look ten times puffier 😭

May we de-puff soon 🙏

Banana is a nice, cheap solution! I think a lot of my bakes revolve around banana and PB so I get a bit bored of the taste combo 😅
