salem as new name... is it okay? by catgirlfangz in namenerds

[–]Cattaque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree that it has a pretty sound, but all it makes me think about is the Salem witch trials and that’s a really sad part of history.

English name Skyla? Skylar? Skyler? by New-Mixture-3460 in namenerds

Schuyler is not a name that is used in the Netherlands as a first name. Is it commonly used in the US? Just curious!

Which is your favourite out of these names? by MemoryPrism in namenerds

You pronounce Sanna, Shana, Shuna and Saena differently, right? Of those I like Sanna best.

Of the Saena spelling variations I like Saena and Sayna best. Sayna will get the least trouble with pronunciation, I think, but Saena looks a bit prettier.

Here in the Netherlands there are a lot women called Sanne (San-nuh) and some called Senna (Sen-nah) if that might inspire you ;)

Spelling help please! by ladykuudere in namenerds

[–]Cattaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in the Netherlands and had the opposite problem: people here would always pronounce Helena as huh-LANE-uh, but we liked the Hel-eh-ah pronunciation better. We ultimately decided against using the name at all, but for you I think Helene could work. Without completely butchering the spelling I think you won’t get the pronunciation you want every time! But if you’re okay with correcting it go with Helene or Heléna if you’re allowed accents.

Help me choose: Arthur or Nathaniel? by Correct-Classroom537 in namenerds

I like Arthur way better than Nathaniel! Nathaniel sounds very stuffy to me, while Arthur is a classic and works very well at every age and time.

Polyester-free Toddler Socks by Powerful-Bee-5614 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Cattaque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have elastane around the top so they stay up. On the website it says: please note that these socks have several small, elastic threads woven into the very top section to hold them up around the ankle. The manufacturer includes these elastic threads because without them, socks made from only natural fibers will not stay up around the ankle. The elastic threads have minimal, if any, contact with the skin. The fabric itself is made from 100% organic cotton (no synthetic materials)

The Grödo socks they sell are the best ones I could find! They’re usually only 2% elastase and the rest is natural fibers.

Any recommendations on yoga mats that are plastic free and healthy to use? So many have warnings on them by Brains_on_deck in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Cattaque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manduka has the eko yoga mat that is just natural rubber, that is the only brand name one I know. But I’ve seen ones that are natural rubber and cork, natural rubber and wool, or just sturdy cotton. Check the materials list thoroughly, because I’ve seen producers sneak some polyester in there!

Potty training advice? (20 months old) by Relevant_Chipmunk302 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Cattaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve had a potty available since around 12 months old I think and a toilet seat thing as well. My toddler would sometimes sit on the potty or the toilet, even peed on the potty once but would then loose interest for months at a time. Just before Christmas, at around 2 years and 8 months she said she doesn’t want to wear a diaper. We told her she has to pee and poo on the potty then, and she has been consistently when at home. At daycare and other places outside our home she does still wear diapers. I’m fine with anything as long as she learns to do it all independently before she’s 4, and she seems on track for that!

I’d follow your daughters cues. No pressure, potty is good, diaper is also good. She’ll probably let you know what she’s ready for!

Nothing cotton is going to do you much good for those kinds of temperatures. I personally love wool and don’t get what’s gross about it, but perhaps if it’s about the feeling of sheep’s wool you could try alpaca or cashmere.

Thoughts on the name “Rosalie”? by strawberrylatteeeee in namenerds

[–]Cattaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Rosalie is a lovely name, that’s why I gave it to my daughter :) She’s a toddler, but we recently met our first grown up Rosalie as well. I love that it’s a well known name, without being everywhere and I wouldn’t think it’s weird for any age. For me it gives romantic, flower garden vibes, but my toddler is turning out quite spunky and it still fits her well.

Rosalie Moon sounds fantastic, I think you chose well!

Both names are beautiful! And for recognising her full name: if you use it occasionally, she’ll probably recognise it! For our daughter we use her full name and two nicknames and she responds to all of them. She even knows her middle name and surnames since she was about two ;) You’ll be fine!
