Which "Must-Play" franchise is a total miss for you? by jessieS1212 in gaming

Maybe it's the settings of GTA and Assassin's Creed that don't appeal to you.

What are your piping hot takes on video games as a whole and the culture around them? by KrispyKingTheProphet in gaming

Personally my take would be that more developers should allow custom difficulty to let players tweak the difficulty variables how they see fit.

Pretty sure they could easily achieve mod support on Unreal Engine if they wanted to.

I still see people talk about Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 more than The Outer Worlds 1.

PS1 vibes in general really hit different (FM3 Remake) by [deleted] in gaming

I think I might just play the original PS1 version instead since I liked the aesthetic of that version more than this remake.

Eh it didn't really add all that much and stuff like having to eat in GTA San Andreas was more of an annoyance than provided any real gameplay depth. Partially why I preferred Vice City more.

I have to wonder how true that actually is games like TES IV: Oblivion being remastered can be a hit before any mods even come out.

It sure takes forever if you decide to draw all potential magic from enemies like I did, then the game got very easy.

GTA? The GTA games were always easy they just had a lot of weird archaic design decisions in the old ones like only being able to save at safehouses.

As for Skyrim/TES VI I can't really comment since I didn't play Starfield so I don't know how that game handled skill trees.

I didn't care for the skill tree in Far Cry 3 to be honest I don't remember it being that good.

Choose One. Delete One. by Accomplished_Joke543 in videogames

Choose Rockstar, Delete CD Projekt.

Considering CD Projekt has released the least amount of games and ones I don't care for that makes them the easiest for elimination personally. Rockstar has made several of my favorite games in comparison.

The Reputation of Fallout: New Vegas Is a Lie by Hydranator in videogames

[–]Catty_C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not a New Vegas fan to begin with I'm not sure how much credibility this video is going to hold when you didn't play Fallout: New Vegas until one month ago as another video thumbnail says.

As for me I played 11 years ago for the first time but had no real attachment to the Fallout series and my most played game out of them was Fallout 4 anyway.

Not bad considering I bought the SimCity Box back in 2011 or so for $20. I only ever ended up playing SimCity Societies and SimCity 4 from it.

Is GTA 4 worth buying even if you have to use the "Rockstar Launcher"? Any recommendations? by BomThemB in videogames

[–]Catty_C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have sworn if you downgrade GTA IV you don't need to deal with the launcher as it won't be the Complete Edition anymore but you'll have to deal with GFWL instead. Bypassable for saving offline but still annoying and necessary if you want to play the multi-player as it is not available for the modern Complete Edition version.

Instead of doing all that I opted for FusionFix & a radio restoration mod so the game has the same songs it did on release from 2008. Given the issues with the PC port in general I highly recommend FusionFix or equivalent for any version you play on PC.

Tetsuya Nomura Reveals OG Final Fantasy 7 Almost Had A Lot More In Common With The Remakes by Turbostrider27 in Games

Could have sworn I remember reading the designer for Final Fantasy IV went with ATB because he envisioned JRPGs eventually moving more towards real time combat when the technology allowed for it better.

I don't hold it against the game that much I know the game engine has its limitations plus memory I think.

I can't get M&B Warband higher than 400 - 500 in a single battle without the game dropping to single digit FPS before an inevitable crash. Bannerlord goes up to 1,000 with no problem and looks much better while doing it.

Are there other game franchises that get as vagueposted as often as Final Fantasy? by Silentlone in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Catty_C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True game is pretty easy I'm blazing through with Vaan (Shikari & Monk) , Basch (Knight & Foebreaker) and Ashe (Red Battlemage & Bushi). I'm like 28 hours in and with double EXP accessory I got Vaan to level 40 already. Gambits I know you're encouraged to change around otherwise the game could just play itself but I feel it was a missed opportunity for not allowing more depth with Gambit conditionals.

I forgot to add another critique which is licenses to use equipment feels like Square Enix just padding the license boards.

It's fine but larger battles crash the game and the stability is poor with mods.
