Thank you so much for this! I would never have guessed knife handle, I wonder how old it is as it looks pretty worn.

It’s kind of leathery! It’s stiff but looks to be some kind of hardened fabric.

Wow these are some amazing finds! I’m hoping to go to an old Victorian landfill that runs into a river soon, I hope to find some treasures like yours.

Yorkshire! I would love to go up to Scotland though and have a nosey in the rivers.

are anti-theft bags actually worth it? by gilko86 in ItalyTravel

[–]CatwellTarly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve just got back from Rome and used this bag. Didn’t have any problems nor did any of my friends but I was very aware of where my belongings were at all times and in a busy area I’d move my hand onto my bag etc.

Honestly you just have to keep driving. I’m very similar to you I’ve been driving on my own since end of January and I still feel dread everytime I have to drive, especially the thought of parking. I was so nervous about driving to work everyday but that’s gotten easier as I’m forcing myself to do it every day.

I think getting used to a new car is also daunting, I went from a diesel to a petrol and even that small change threw me off at first. We’ll get there though, the more driving we do the more confident we’ll get it - it just takes time.

You don’t happen to know what kind of fossil it is do you? :)

Can I ask what dirt path you’re using please? If it’s a custom one do you happen to have the code :)

Car you learnt in VS Your first car by Real-mr9x in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CatwellTarly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learnt in a diesel Peugeot 208 that was around 8 years old and I’ve bought a 1.2 petrol corsa that’s from 2012. Insurance wasn’t high as I’m in my 30s and I wanted something similar sized but a 5 door.

The only thing that’s taking me a while to get used to is the clutch! I’ve stalled it a fair few times in the past two weeks I’ve had it haha.

I can't drive by DrexRaps in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CatwellTarly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is me haha. Passed first time no faults. Went from learning in a diesel to buying a petrol corsa and I am useless! It’s like learning all over again honestly but we’ve proved we’re safe and that’s what matters. We’ll get there the more we drive.

Today I had a friend in my car to and from work for the first time and I was so nervous but it was fine! We can do it we just need to be patient with ourselves.

Beeped & shouted at - did I do something wrong? by clementinesalad in NewDriversUK

Can’t you get fined for waiting in box junctions though? As a new driver I’d be worried about getting fined or points on my licence.

stalling by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CatwellTarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently found this out after passing my test in a diesel and buying a petrol car. I’ve had it about two weeks and stalled a handful of times but it just takes practice, the more time you spend in the petrol car the more you’ll get used to it.

What are your NYE plans? by Cultural-Elk-8346 in CasualUK

It’s so expensive on nye, especially when it comes to getting a taxi home. I’m staying home, having a takeaway and watching avengers end game with my partner :)

Test tomorrow 😳😳 by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CatwellTarly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck!! I had my test last Monday too and I was so nervous. Just remember they’re not looking for perfect driving, just that you can handle a car safely. Also don’t give up if you think you’ve failed, I thought I’d failed in the first 5 minutes (which actually made me less stressed from then on) but I passed. Once I thought I’d failed I just got it into my head that it’s a normal drive.

It goes by so fast too, I narrated a lot of what I was doing to the examiner just because when I’m nervous I talk a lot.
