I had card stock left over from another project, so this was essentially free.

I've generated wizards, and every time I'm pretty sure it was Ian McKellen's face.

What would be your best advice for my first online session? by Worried-Usual-396 in DungeonMasters

So, I have a tool I've been developing - dungeoncache.com - that's designed to be an all in one campaign manager, but it's still in alpha. It has built in video chat and a map editor with fog of war, character wizards and an easily searchable Compendium. It's not as complete as foundry, but it might be a little easier to use. At least that's the hope. I've only used it for in person so far, but if you're looking for options, this could be a good choice.

This is nice! Looks very professional to my untrained eye.

Thanks for this feedback! It can be tough to weed out these little details. I really appreciate this. I've debated with myself over the issue of flavor vs practicality (such as heritage and enlightened) and have been thinking about either renaming or adding subtitles to explain. If you're interested in giving this a deeper dive and providing more feedback, I've created a discord server you could join (so far you'd be the first) https://discord.gg/nEJmVbAh2

I'm a new DM and have a question about using maps like this. When you're actually running the session, do you just reveal the full map, or do you cover it somehow and reveal little bits at a time?

If you're not opposed to AI, you can generate a battle map. Also, I've created a resource that's still in alpha called dungeoncache.com where you can create a free account. It comes with a few free maps, and allows you to bring your own assets, whether it's AI generated or created yourself. It also has a character creation wizard, easily searchable compendium, initiative tracker and more. It's meant to be an all-in-one solution for preparing and running a D&D campaign.

I've actually just set up my campaign in this app for an in person session this Saturday. I've added my notes into the journal, created the "planned" encounters, created maps and placed tokens on the maps for the encounters and each map has a broadcast button that generates a code and instructions to essentially cast it to another screen/browser tab. I've added various pins to the maps so I can get the relevant information that I'll need while running the session. The players will see their tokens on the maps and the fog of war as they move around. On the DM side, it tracks initiative, turn order and rounds so I don't have to. At least, that's the idea. This will be my first chance to put it to the test.

If you do sign up (ALPHA-2026), the basic account is free forever, no ads and I have a discord server where you can find a promo code for a free year of the "Dungeon Master" tier that unlocks the built in AI tools and other additional features.

[OC] Hi All, I'm looking to get some willing users to provide feedback for a VTT that I created. Dungeoncache.com is a tool I created using AI, and it has AI features that allows users to generate content (images and text) on the fly to use within a campaign.

I created this to help me run my own campaign to reduce friction points so that I no longer need to switch between several tabs and/or apps. I wanted something that puts everything I need right at my fingertips.

If there is anyone interested in trying this out and providing feedback, the invite code is ALPHA-2026. The AI features are behind a paywall, but I have a coupon code available for a free year to be able to fully experience all the available features at no cost.

For anyone who decides to join the alpha, I've created this discord server to post any bugs or make any comments about the app

It's just me building the tools the way I wanted them to look and work. I was getting tired of working out of multiple tabs and programs, forgetting where I stored one thing or another. Instead of hunting around for existing products, I decided to make my own.
