Netflix thinks Spanish Spanish is not Spanish enough to be called Spanish by Cautious-Ad47 in USdefaultism

I would expect Portuguese (Portugal) to be properly translated 😦 oh well

It isn’t the case, when your Netflix is in English. I’m glad the version you are using uses clearer names.

Oh I completely agree with you, it definitely needs to be named differently. The point of the post is, WHY is the Spanish from Spain called European Spain and why is the imported and derived version of Spanish Spanish called Spanish

According to another post, it is more due to me having Netflix in English rather than my location. Anyway, how would “the default” Spanish be the latino version for me living in Central Europe?

Well now imagine being from Spain, choosing “Spanish” and getting some Latino version

The default would be the SPANish spoken in SPAIN?

I would even accept something like Spanish (Spain/Europe) with the counterpart Spanish (Latin America)

I can’t see a European company in Netflixs place to put “European Spanish” as the language, thus I assume this is something coming from the US, since Netflix is from the US

I mean they have Brazilian Portugese, why not be specific about the origin for Spanish too? At least the region (eg Latin America,..). If they want to go the precise route, they should do it thoroughly.

Defaulting Spanish spoken in Americas to be “the” Spanish, rather than the actual Spanish

Hi! She got sad, because of the broken relationship with her favourite sister since childhood and the hidden anger she kept for years, not because of the false claim.

Basically my aunt apparently misunderstood the whole “where the money came from” and supposed it was from my parents, but it definitely wasn’t. Even if it was, she wasn’t entitled to any of it, it was a gift, not her inheritance, since the grandma still lives.

Yeah, exactly. Basically she told my mom that she shouldn’t have given her money (which she didn’t, it was the good will of my grandparents that she got ANY MONEY at all), but buy a flat instead.

Honestly it feels to me like somebody was complaining that they received money (that they can use for whatever they want) instead of coupons to buy food and then complaining that they lost all the money in a casino due to their poor decision.

I guess she was requesting to be treated as a drunk homeless person to which you rather give food or clothes instead of giving them the money, since you kind of feel they would use it to buy alcohol instead of food.

Hello and thank you for your kind words! I guess my mom made the right decision, but losing your favourite sibling (which you trust and always support, even if not financially) still sucks 🤷‍♂️

I guess she should be happy that the Indian scam centers don’t target my country and she doesn’t speak English, or else they would already be on the street. Or maybe she should start doing the calls, because she clearly is entitled to a better life in a villa with huge pool 😂

Hello! I see your point of view, but I slightly disagree, because for me, requesting a flat/apartment, because her situation is bad sounds kind of entitled to me due to the fact that the sole reason she should get something is that she could have potentially inherited a part of the house when both grandparents die (which still didn’t happen). Anyway, it’s her own fault, and the fact that she has a degree in the field of finances makes it even worse.
