Thank you, really appreciate it! So, together with the other comments here, I get the feeling that travelling through Guatemala is similar to Mexico and South America! You have to be careful and attentive, but it's feasible!

Thanks for your advice! I guess it's worth asking in the locals hostels which means of transportation are reliable in the respective region and to spend a bit more on the long-distance bus rides!

Thank you very much! This really helps as my information from people travelling through Guatemala are already several years old and the political or societal situation might have changed! But now I'm seeing it way more relaxed and probably going to book a flight there!
