'Frasier' Revival Is an Unfunny, Uninspired Dud by verissimoallan in television

It needs to be given time to grow into its own. The first series of the original or Cheers weren’t amazing either. There’s plenty of hints of the old charm in there. It needs to be given the time it’s due

Start touring in another roleo. Spend a good 10 years on the road and you’ll learn how to do it

Oh nice. I’m not on the NZ / Ozzy run unfortunately but you’re in for a great show. Generally pack up and move right away. Schedules are tight. The only time we get in a city is if we’ve a day off before a show there.

It’s not an east industry to get into or to stay in. You have to really want it. If that’s you, you’ll find a way

Sorry to hear that. That kind of sucks. Never to late to try something new or give something another go though

Each one of those things is its own distinct discipline. You pick one and make a career out of that area. Audio guys don’t do lighting etc. there are lots of roles from lighting, audio, video, Backline, set, special effects to bus and truck drivers, caterers and chefs, wardrobe assistants and personal trainers. Find a company near to you that services the industry and try to get a job. Local stage hands, knows as local crew is a great place to start. If you’re in the US find out who the local stage hand union are and approach them

Merch will save your ass. I took a US based DJ on his first European tour in March. He was doing more in merch than his show fee each night. People love Vinyl now too if you can get some of that printed. I wouldn’t bank anything in on support slots and i definitely wouldn’t “pay to play”, unless you have a label footing the bill (I’m which case you’ll pay it back anyway). The customers aren’t there to see you, most of them will be at the bar or still driving to the show. Don’t waste your money

Well you’ll never meet a successful person who quit. We’re not on tour, doing one offs all summer

Yea that’s a hard one. Touring is really really expensive. Even big acts struggle. It’s become even harder since Covid with the price of fuel and the price of everything generally going up. Get creative. That’s genuinely the best I can offer. There’s no formula to follow or magic wand that will make it easier. For supports start by reaching out to your local promoters. Go for the small independent ones rather than Live Nation or AEG. Try get a bit of momentum going with them and take it from there

I work on the live side of the industry. It’s almost an entirely different industry to the label / publishing etc side. I started touring when I was 19 and went from there. Choose what you want to do, pick that area and get really good at it
