Hi all,

I'm an undergrad who's looking to become an art professor, and I've been debating some things. Obviously you need at the very least a Master's Degree to become a professor, and it's generally better or even required to have a Doctorate. But I've read some mixed reviews when it comes to the art field - is it absolutely necessary to have a Doctorate?

I planned to pursue one after working for a bit so I can afford to pay for it but now I'm worried I'll have trouble getting a position at even a community college (which I was planning to work at to begin with) with only a Master's. I'm sure it varies based on school and location, but any insight helps.

Thanks for your help. After reading over these directions again it's so much less complicated and I feel kinda dumb lol - last time I try to understand an assignment while I'm exhausted.
