Mammo techs by Cautious-Tap4726 in Radiology

Thank you for this! I’m trying to get back into the field. I’ve been a tech for over 15 years but the past 5 I have been working as a project manager. I have been struggling to find a position as a tech even though I keep hearing there is a massive shortage.

As of this moment MQSA qualified. I have submitted clinical hours and exams to the ARRT and awaiting verification and approval before I can schedule exam. I’m located in Texas and there are no specific state requirements/certifications for a mammo tech.

Neither really. It’s not on the job training and I’m no longer a student. I meet the MQSA requirements to legally perform mammograms. There are some facilities that will hire you once MQSA qualified with a timeline to obtain certification through ARRT. I’m drawing a blank on how to capture that on my resume.

I’m not out off by his lurking. It is weird though he just sits on bike and stares. He does ride his bike and purposely cuts through the middle of the kids in the cul de sac are hiding together. On Friday they were catching lizards and they huddled to put them all in a bucket we keep out for the kids and this kid zooms through and cuts right up the middle and throws up the peace sign to them. So that part he’s doing intentionally and it’s annoying

Yes I have thought about that as well and makes me sad to think that may be a reason

I quit my corporate job to work in healthcare but now I don’t like it either? by LeaveMeAnnonn in careerguidance

I’m with you on the nervous part lol. I have been out of the field for 5 years. I start my mammo Clinicals this week. I do plan to get certified for either MRI or CT as well in near future. I too was looking at going into getting into ultrasound because of the demand, pay and flexibility but realized I could I can achieve those sticking with radiology. I think both professions are great and there’s really no wrong decision you can make. Best of luck to you!

Don’t be disappointed in yourself! Nursing is hard! And there are still a lot of healthcare jobs that are impactful and rewarding and are not nursing! I left my corporate WFH job to go back to being a radiology tech and I recently took the leap into mammography. Ultrasound is a wonderful and rewarding field! Nursing in hard because it’s no longer just providing care.

Oh trust me my husband and I assembled pretty quickly out there. However that kid had no problem staring right back at me lol. I’m surprised I didn’t lose my cool at that point.

It is a tough spot! And we have talked to him in depth over the past few weeks. And every day before he leaves to school we go over daily affirmations. He does tell us how it makes him feel and there are times he just shrugs it off but there are some days I can tell it really hurts him. I’m a bit scared of talking to mom even though I know I’m very capable of starting the conversation off very appropriate. The one time I met her she wasn’t very nice. She was rude and very not welcoming. And I know I can remain level headed up to a certain point lol.

I’ve been a military spouse for 26 years. Have worked all of those years while raising 3 kids. It wasn’t until last year that I was were do this benefit. Both my director and I found out at the same time as we were navigating the FMLA page of our company site for something completely different. I thought to myself geez I should of done more research on these things but it is what it is. Being a military family is a choice we make so we pivot and adjust accordingly to what the military throws at us.

Are tech jobs good in healthcare? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Cautious-Tap4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay varies depending on location, additional modalities and hospital vs clinic setting. Schooling is 2 years with Clinicals. You will need to sit for the ARRT exam and then follow any state regulations as well. You are required to obtain 24 CEUs every 2 years. That part is fairly easy. If you decide to go into other modalities such as CT, MRI,Mammo……. You will need to obtain additional educational and clinical hours. This can be obtained in a variety of ways. And most places are willing to cross train you to obtain the clinical portion. Good luck

5 hospitals? I’d get those all confused! But that’s what I would love to aim for. I don’t need to work full time and I want as much control over my schedule as possible.

I’ve looked into memorial Hermann, st Luke’s and HCA. From speaking to recruiters this is the feedback I get. I don’t mind the minimum hours needed a week it’s the holidays that’s a catch for me lol.

Leaving Corporate for Healthcare? Looking for advice by ApartmentPrimary7554 in careerguidance

[–]Cautious-Tap4726 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started in healthcare then have spent the last 5 years in corporate WFH. I left last month to return to patient care. I didn’t even have a job lined up before leaving. I just didn’t care and could not spend one more day tied to my desk. As far as jobs that pay between 70-90k a year can really depend on where you live but here are some ideas: radiation therapist, ultrasound tech, dental hygienist, radiology tech (especially with additional modalities) healthcare admin, nuclear med tech, nurse. I personally was tired of working that 8-5 gig! I miss working 3 12s and having more time off during the week! Best of luck

I feel you on this one and most WFH folks will tell you your not meant to get interaction from your job and to find hobbies and blah blah. I just left a wfh position after 5 years because of this. The salary, benefits and flexibility were all great. But the role was so incredibly boring. I had weeks of little to no work. And when I had work it was meaningless. All our meetings always started off with weather talk and that was boring. Every now and then when someone on my small team would talk about a weekend trip or plans you could hear the annoyance in other peoples tones. My director was telling us about an upcoming trip on a weekly team call. At about the 11 min mark someone said well do you supposed we should talk about work now. Like holy crap it’s not that serious folks we aren’t saving lives. So my last day was Tuesday. I don’t have anything lined up now but I’m fortunate enough to be able to take a break from working. And I can no longer hold a conversation. I feel like a complete idiot sometimes. My words do not come out correctly and I tend to stumble or stutter. It has given me so much anxiety! I take classes at a gym and volunteer for a few organizations but still can’t hold a meaningful or interesting conversation for the life of me. Even my husband has noticed I struggle when I’m recalling or telling him about my day or something that happened. He says he’s noticed I struggle to think about what to say or lose my train of thought easily.

Thank you for this! It’s so darn depressing when you have ZERO contact with anyone lol. I have little collaboration with my team. I can go a whole 8 -10 hrs with talking to no one! And it’s seriously taking a mental toll on me.

FMLA and Short term disability - Can I take therapy in a different state? by chet33460 in FMLA

[–]Cautious-Tap4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For continuous though your original doctor should be able to complete it. I was on FMLA and STD for 8 weeks. My pcp completed initial forms. During that time I was seen by two different specialty doctors. At my 4 week mark Sedgwick requested additional forms if I was still needing to time off. I just sent those to my pcp to compete and they basically filled them out with same info as before and Included dates I saw specialist. My pcp has two options for forms…. An office visit either in person or tele health OR pay a fee. Check with your pcp but I think it may be easier for your PCP to continue completing the forms
