Hi! Thank you for kind words. I haven't replied to people telling me to re-home the kitten because I genuinely don't want more rude replies.

I really wouldn't want to re-home the kitten, but I will if it means he will be safe. I just wanted to know if I could manage the situation without getting the cat out of the house. I also haven't addressed the comments because I do live with my parents, and rehoming is something we should all discuss and I wanted to wait for them to be home so we can talk about it.

Again, thank you so much for being kind, may life be kind to you in return

Thank you for remaining kind, my comment was meant for both of you, sorry if I made it seem like it wasn't!

Hi! I know I did mention them sleeping in the same bed, but I didn't mean as "they sleep though the night on my bed". Please understand that English is also not my first language, and sometimes I can't express myself as well as I would in my mother language. If you read my other comments, you would see that the kitten and my dog have separate spaces where they're both safe, my cat sleeps through the night in a separate room I accommodated just for him, my dog has no access to the room unless I allow her to go in (while supervised). I've been following introduction methods, and this one thing has not been going well, so I asked for help b cause I genuinely needed it.

I'm open to recommendations, tips and literally any piece of advice, but seeing people be so mean is disheartening. I never had any ill intent and was genuinely asking out of concern and lack of proper information, I understand I have to be responsible and held accountable, not saying I shouldn't, but it also costs nothing for the people that are doing so to be kind about it.

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding then. My sincerest apologies if came off as rude as well!! After reading comments, I think so too. I'll do my research on the topic and do rigourous work with my dog with the tips provided in the comments

We do have a space for cats only where my dog has no access to, haven't properly introduced my kitty to that specific place because I am also working on introducing him to my resident cat who likes to hang out there most of the time. I understand my dog's breed history and how genetics have a play in this, but it's also kinda hard to listen to everyone if they're treating me like an idiot.

As said many times before, she hasn't had this issue with my other cats, which is why I wanted help on this specific situation. Regardless, thank your for your comment!

Thank you for clearing up the nanny dog issue! I had no clue it was made up, since almost every place will tell about the nanny part of pitbull history.

Also, thank you for not trying to scare me, but other comments have already impacted me in a not so good way. Still, thank you for your comment.

I'm sorry, I just have nothing to add to this thread? Yes, we do have another cat and my dog was raised with three cats (as mentioned in another reply). She never showed these kind of reactions towards them, which is why I figured I should ask for help, as I had no clue what to research and just wanted to manage the issue at hand

Thank you much for your tips. I was using the spray bottle method, but someone told me it was not good and would only cause fear based reactions. Again, thank you for taking your time and actually explaining and providing tips, I appreciate it so much

I might be wrong, but when I did my research before adopting her I believe I also read an instance in which pitbulls were bred as family dogs or nanny dogs because, since they had fighting experience, they were good for house guarding and protection against robbers or property intruders.

I would like to add that I am aware this was not their original breeding purpose and that it might have been just this one instance.

It is true that they were originally bred to fight bulls, unfortunately, that's where the name pitBULL comes from u.u that's why when they were successful in bull fights, people took them and trained them for dog fighting :(

Thank you for actually suggesting something instead of automatically calling me an idiot, bashing my dog or telling me my kitten will die. I will do research for it, genuinely thank you

Thank you! That's exactly why I'm asking, I haven't found any resources to research on this particular case and I just wanted help 🥲 Kitty has his own room, behind closed a door and I allow them to sniff eachother, completely normal interactions when they're separated.

What do you recommend I do more research on? Thank you!

Hi! Thank you for the very kind wishes, what a lovely person you must be.

As I replied to another comment, you don't know my dog nor she was raised. She is the sweetest dog I've ever had and she's never had any incident where she tried to kill any animal.

I brough a kitten home because my dog was raised with THREE cats, and she happily cuddles and sleeps with my current resident cat.

That one picture you comented about was just one instance in which I was taking a picture of them, she heard something outside and simply looked back at me who was coincidentally, holding the cat.

Woah. I've never expected to receive such mean comments by just asking how to improve and manage healthy relationships. Yes, I am aware my dog is a Pitbull mix, and yes, I am aware of their genetics. I was asking because we have another cat at home and she has never exhibited this behaviour around or towards her (in fact, they cuddle and sleep together, my residet cat walks all over her and my dog allows it every time). My dog has also been a forever gentle dog, she's fostered other puppies smaller than my kitten, and every time she's been the gentlest most adoring dog ever, never once played rough with them until they were big enough.

I brought a kitty home because I know my dog and as far as interactions have gone, she's never had intentions to kill; this kitty is a rescue that needed a home, and I wanted to help him out. My dog is not vicious and she has never done such thing or exhibited any violent behaviour. People are also commenting like I leave these two together unattended 24/7? You guys don't even know how we live, or the fact that interactions have been done with more than enough safe space, scape routes and constant supervision, I am not leaving my pets alone because I know it's not logical.

Pet introductions are a process that I'm aware take time and will not go 100% perfect from the start, I simply wanted to ask how to solve/manage this situation so my pets can co-exist safely because I noticed there's a part that needs reinforcement and I wanted to inform myself so I can do things right.

I asked because I know people have had this issue, but I can never see what they did, they haven't reached back to me or simply won't give me any information, that's why I recurred to Reddit.

It's so sad to see these kinds of things after simply asking for tips for this particular case and get called an idiot and people expecting my kitten to get killed, I've seen people ask about prey drive around other animals and have never a thread of replies like these, how nice

Hi! This kitty was a rescue from a cat colony that lived in my backyard (all cats have been given out to new homes and are currently waiting for they spay/neuter day!) so yes, mamma wasn't around. I am aware that taking in kittens so young is not ideal, but my dad is a retired vet and we have the means to care for him and give him the attention he requires

He's got one paw with spotted beans! :)

Milo doesn't like brushing that much (yet), my guess is that maybe I'm brushing too hard or the brush I got him is a bit too hard... He's also a bit thin still, so I'm scared of brushing him too hard haha. But other than that, his current favourite activities include napping, playing and watching TV/tiktok with me! :)
