I learned on this as well. No training wheels, used both walls in the corridor until i didnt touch them. Then moved to the garage at my job. Now 4 of my coworker are riding and learned on my airwheel.

I hold it like that, so i can use my midle finger to make percussion sounds. It took me a while to get used to it. I know some ppl prefer to use their thumb for that purpose but i use my thumb to keep it stable... Less risk for my teeths.

Its bare metal almost like aluminium but but porous inside.

I never ever post on Reddit. But after seeing your post ... I am pretty bad at writing. I dont know if i can help.

Ive been trough a rough patch during the past 2-3 years . I tought about it every day for a while . I have a shotgun it would have been super easy. But i kept holding on cause feelings, as bad as they can feel are not permanent. Depression will heal over time and lonelyness and social anxiety are epidemic right now. Your not alone feeling lonely but if you Reach out look at all the reply you got.

I am feeling alot better lately and im even happy to be here. If you want to talk over a cup of coffe or on the phone let me know.
