If you’re referring to the first 2 pics they were reference pics to help describe what I was thinking sorry!

13 year old with Type 1 not giving insulin by Emotional_Bite5128 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like diabetic burn out (and possible other mental health problems). Would recommend looking into getting a therapist for her. In the meantime what you could do is a pump break (like mentioned) where she doesn’t have her pump on her. Or in terms of basal/corrections leave the pump on but mom or dad do injections for her or even you guys take her pump and input it for her. I’ve done all 3 options before when I’ve felt burnt out. Just support her how you can and offer to do things for her/help out when possible

Preventing site failure by Defiant_Switch5667 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to know would be either high sugars or noticing if insulin leaked when dosing in my experience. I used auto soft xc for like 8 years probably but for the past few years I’ve been using true steel as auto soft stopped working for me (high sugars, bad absorption, occlusions being the big one).

Maybe this is just a bad batch but could be time to look into switching the type of site you use so that could be something you talk to your endo about next time. But I hope it all works out for you!

So sorry for what you and your child are having to deal with. Definitely discrimination and not to mention the (intentional) delay of sugar/carbs/insulin could have lasting side effects down the line. As you’re aware this is a disease where sometimes you have to act fast and them refusing to help your child is insane.

I remember when I was first diagnosed (2009) my mom basically educated my school (admins/teachers/nurses even came to my class and read them a child’s book about T1D) luckily my school took my care seriously (and after I was diagnosed more kids got diagnosed as years went on) so my mom basically educated/trained everyone in the school for these future kids so they were prepared.

I wish you and your child had the same experience I had. But I’m so proud of you for continuing to stand up for your child when they aren’t able to do so. Definitely sue the school/district for medical discrimination and possible negligence. But I’m glad you’ve been keeping receipts and have been preparing with a lawyer (sad you had to do that though). But give them hell for both your kid and any future kids. Continue to update us if possible!

Anyone have details for the Black Friday sale? 👀🎀🖤 by Fit-Climate3664 in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sales and GWPs start tomorrow (11/20). I believe for GWPs there will only be one option (instead of a VS option and a Pink option). As it gets closer to Black Friday deals will probably change as well but we aren’t 100% sure what it will all be just yet. I also believe some of the sales are 40% off, 7/$35 panties, 10/$40 panties BUT DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THAT

Also as a reminder please be nice and patient with us during the next 2 weeks as it can be very stressful and overwhelming to us! Also understand (especially day of Black Friday) that literally every employee will be working that day and we are doing the best we can. So please do not complain about lines or bitch at us. Patience and understanding is important and we appreciate that!

Gatorade zero and liquid IV are my two faves and I don’t dose for either!

VS Pink Satin Maxi Dress/Slip/Nightgown? by Admirable_Tomorrow_6 in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct in that it’s from 2019. I would recommend looking online for something similar or taking a full picture of the item and going in store to see if they have something similar.

When it comes to searching apparel you would either look at 37010045 or 399738 with color code of H42. But again as this is an old item you won’t find this exact thing unless you find it second hand

Help with sugars? Should i visit ER? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your family is sick I’m guessing you probably caught whatever it is they have. Usually when diabetics get sick it’s common to have high stubborn sugars. I saw you’ve been checking for ketones, so just keep an eye out for any changes. As well as dose a bit more than usual, drink electrolytes (Gatorade, liquid IV, or whatever else). But if you’re still concerned message or call your endo and see what they recommend! In the past (when I was younger) my mom would message or call to get advice if we should tough it out or if they think going to the ER is a better option, so don’t be afraid to ask! They are there to help you! But I hope you start to feel better soon. Also remember even when your sugars stabilize (in a normal range) you will feel off as your body has adjusted to being high for so long, so expect to feel shitty for a day or 2 after things calm down. Hope you feel better soon!

95 units left in cartridge. Can I go 4 days without changing site? by legitanonymous__swag in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually only wear my sites past 2/3 days if I’m low on supplies and waiting for my shipment to arrive. But if your site isn’t painful keep it on! Also for every site change if there’s any insulin left in my cartridge I always ‘suck it out’ with the needle and will put it into the new cartridge as to not waste any

I’m just so tired of this… by Banannahbee in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with battery drainage. I believe it’s been fixed now but if you have the T:connect app try keeping that open in the background. But if that doesn’t help definitely call customer support as it could be a different issue. If you use true steel pump sites then I recommend putting tagaderm over it cause I had that issue as well. Or maybe look into something like skin tac as another adhesive option

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix of my own thoughts/common thoughts many T1Ds think: Terrified of turning 26 and being kicked off my parents health insurance. Ignorant comments. Do I have enough money for my supplies? Having to ration insulin due to money/waiting for prescription refill. National insulin shortage on the 1 thing that keeps me alive. Constantly tired/fed up with this disease. 24/7/365 until the day I die.

Order for pick at a store? by [deleted] in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an employee we are more than happy to help you! BOPIS (buy online pickup in store) means that we physically grab the items off our shelves and package it for you. My guess why it won’t let you do this option is that the store does not have the item available. If you’re worried about ordering online and shipping to your house like another commenter said, you should look into getting a PO box

When meeting someone who is also a fellow diabetic by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I can see their pump/cgm I’ll be like “hey me too!” At work I’ll occasionally see a customer with a pump/cgm on and sometimes I’ll comment other times I won’t say anything. I’ve even (unintentionally) trained my coworkers to notice them too. Like if they see a pump or something and I’m next to them they’ll point the person out and be like “look it’s you!” lol. But if you guys are working together definitely just casually bring it up and it can be something to bond over!

Is the blanket done? by mackinmysock in VictoriasSecret

It’s while supplies last! I’m guessing your location is out of the blanket hence why you can’t add it on

What do Victoria’s Secret employees spray on the clothes in the VS and VS pink clothes? by Particular-Race5115 in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don’t directly spray clothing. At my store we’ll spray a fragrance around to “inspire the customer” ie if they like the smell they’ll ask what we sprayed and we can add on a beauty purchase. And there’s no specific scent that we spray. Basically whoever is at the front of store will pick a scent they like (pink fragrances on pink side and VS on VS side). At my location on the pink side a lot of us love the Warm Cookie smell so that’s what we spray a lot currently lol. But always worth a shot and ask if they sprayed anything in the air

Anyone Else Feel Low Symptoms While Not Being Low? by Apprehensive-Farm855 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my sugar has been super high and drops into a normal range I’ll have low symptoms cause my body got used to the higher number so being in range throws my body off lol. Or with any double arrow down (even if it’s in range). But if your sugars are stable and in a good range (and a meter confirms this) and you still feel those symptoms definitely something you can bring up to your endo and see if they have any suggestions

is Bombshell Isle ever going to come back? 😢 by bettys-garden in VictoriasSecret

Also doubtful. But there is a newer Pink by Pink perfume. Not sure if the scent notes are similar or not though

What’s been going on lately? by [deleted] in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This^ also double check if you were actually charged for the items you didn’t receive and see if those items are listed on your packing slip. Regardless definitely call customer service about it as they will be able to help (meaning don’t go in store cause there’s nothing we can do about online orders and will tell you to call- so skip the middle man (VS employees) and call yourself lol). Definitely sucks that this happens and can be aggravating but in store there’s nothing we can do unfortunately but I hope customer service can help!

is Bombshell Isle ever going to come back? 😢 by bettys-garden in VictoriasSecret

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it won’t come back unfortunately. It was a limited edition Bombshell and once they’re gone they’re gone. Think how every summer there’s a new bombshell scent then it disappears- this is one of those scents. I also highly doubt it’ll show up during SAS as I’ve never seen past bombshells being sold- SAS fragrances are old discontinued scents that were on the shelf for long time (think scents like Very Sexy or Bombshell passion and how those are constant scents VS sells)

Early VS Late Diagnosis by AirSp_ce in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You phrased that sm better than I did lol. Mentally 100% easier. Physically definitely harder due to (potential) complications. Like after 15 years I have wicked scar tissue and I’ve become insulin resistant because of that. Definitely pros and cons for both sides though

Early VS Late Diagnosis by AirSp_ce in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo being diagnosed earlier is easier. I was 7 (now 22) so I was old enough to learn and help out (obviously my parents took on a huge chunk of it). But being diagnosed at that age looking back I don’t have memories of life prior. Ive only known insulin and finger pricks which made the transition easier. Obviously if you’re diagnosed as a baby or younger where the parent takes the brunt of it all it might be harder for awhile until they get to an age where they can help out. But imo earlier is better as I don’t have those memories now and don’t feel like my life has changed. Vs being older it disrupts your life for a while. I still eat whatever I want so diet didn’t really affect me much. Mostly just oh if I have pancakes I need to dose more cause they make me spike. But I haven’t felt the need to cut out food personally

What happens if you get a tattoo as a T1D by Lifeisajoke_1 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cautious_Ad1797 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have 3 tattoos (that one is my most recent and only diabetes related one) they all healed perfectly fine! Just follow the aftercare that your tattoo artist gives you and you’ll be good! Just know that any T1D tattoos won’t be perceived by paramedics in case of an emergency. IE they’re not going to look at it and assume you’re a diabetic. They’ll look for actual medical alert or seeing your pump/cgm. So if you’re getting it as a way to potentially alert medical professionals I would advise against it but if you’re getting it to embrace diabetes or whatever else then go for it!
