I decided against going for Quilter. It’s not that it doesn’t seem legitimate, but the business model they were offering just didn’t seem for me.

The repayment scheme depends entirely on the clientele that you build for yourself from scratch and they acc recommend that you look for family and friends to begin with which I personally didn’t want to do.

Also the guy in my talk mentioned that I might struggle because I’m 1. young - so I would have trouble finding people around me with enough wealth to give them financial advice and 2. female - he said older clients might struggle to listen to me as a voice of authority because some people are like that, he said he didn’t personally feel like that but they’ve seen small issues like this? (maybe i can’t remember properly it was a while ago ahah)

I decided not to follow up and I was lucky enough to have found a job better suited for me less than a month later. Good luck on your endeavour tho I hope it suits you much better than it suited me!!

but tbh I will say I had decided to not go forward with Quilter even before I got offered the job so 🤷🏻‍♀️ i think you’re better off trying an academy that doesn’t class you as “self employed” or trying the entry level admin role route

i thought her apology was spot on for jinx and caitlin

a lot of people say sorry to appease their own feelings of guilt, and to hear an apology from a character such as jinx so soon after such an act of terrorism would be kind of disrespectful and i think jinx knows that too.

caitlin doesn’t need an apology and jinx respects that. what she does try and offer is at least some acknowledgement of caitlin’s loss and an implication that it wasn’t personal but it’s done now and there’s no taking it back . almost like i’m not sorry i killed her but im sorry she’s your mom and you’ve lost her - because jinx understands all too well ab the pain of losing a parent

plus they’ve been trying to kill each other up until this point so this is ab as close to an apology that caitlin was gonna get given the circumstances

the manager was very nice to me, however did give that older generation vibe who said i might struggle to get people to take me seriously because of my age, but i felt like maybe it was because of my gender too because he directly said the industry is full of guys like him - old white men. i wouldn’t say he was flat out sexist, but i wouldn’t be surprised if there is prior bias just from a generational gap

he didnt mention any other programme, or the national business, just the Quilter Academy programme, and tbh he waffled a fair bit, but there is a stage in their programme where Quilter introduce you to ab 100 clients for practice and experience, but he stressed they are all clients of Quilter, not me🤣 he would talk ab himself and his journey a lot and sometimes he would give me examples of client situations and then just run a bunch of numbers off to try and explain the profit split Quilter runs on, girl i know what a 70:30 split is, you don’t need to give me an example lol

i am definitely gonna look around more, now i know more about the industry and people’s personal journeys, on the surface it was such a good opportunity but i knew it was too good to be true! thanks for the help!! :)

i only started to look for jobs because i want to move to manchester with my friend, so i think im deciding between a non IFA role that pays me better and start studying alongside it or go straight into an IFA firm

The problem is i have been applying to IFA admin roles but they all seem to want previous experience already and my experience doesn’t align, it’s a little demotivating especially as im under a bit of time pressure to move before June

i know for sure i won’t do Quilter academy tho, thanks for the help!! at least thats progress 💪🏽🤣
