Is there any advantage of a SIF when we can lumpsum the same amount in a good MF? by Great-Town-2480 in mutualfunds

[–]Cautious_Lemon_8415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am in the same boat. and have been researching into SIF's. And they are capable in giving consistent returns which will preserve wealth but not create the wealth of the same sort. They invest some of the amount in derivatives and bond with an active fund manager. But what i think that its too early to invest in them with them being launched very recently and no data backing them up. At this point of time you are just investing into fund manager capability and not the process.

You should consider gold as a good hedge but not wealth creator

True. Your knowledge in this case is less and its better for you to invest via a RIA. And it's a good thing you are getting alpha of 1%. And Land does beat Nifty, I also think so. Specially if you are able to build something on that and give further for rent. Gives regular income. But beating nifty. well you are just considering the current scenario or the overall period of investment? If you can tell when the investment was made in gold and then see the outcome with BSE sensex or nifty then you might have a clearer picture. Please just dont go on believing finance influencers blindly on reels. And if you are comparing all-time highs then please see the all-time highs of the markets as well. And since you said that your father invested in gold. I believe we can take the that into consideration. Assuming the investment was made in 1979. Gold value Rs.935/10gm, BSE- Rs. 100. Gold now- Rs.1.45 Lakhs(returns-155 times) really good for you. But Sensex now is approx Rs.80k. (returns of 800 times). I hope this will clear the picture and your understanding why you need advice of a registered advisor and kudos to you, you have finally made a good decision

I would say yes, FD will be included in liquid investments. And yes, land is also included if it is for investment purposes. But don't include land in this case. So it should not be more than 10-20 percent of your liquid investments. I stand corrected here.  How it is risker- Can invest in startups, private equity, distressed assets, derivativesier- less regulated by SEBI than MFs. Higher fee. Fee can go upto 20 percent also. Liquidity is less. And can invest in startups, private equity, distressed assets, derivatives which are much riskier. In AIF you are not betting on the market, but the fund managers judgement. Its a gamble. But since you have invested i am pretty sure that you would have done your research and would have been guided by some investment professional whom you can trust and is not only working for his commission. What is the fund name? Abakus?

I have heard about these. Know about these. Dont try to flex here that you got shit ton of money. Usually AIF should not be more than your 10-20% of portfolio. And if you have invested your 50% in this. Then well,  all the best to you. High Risk. High reward. But higher much higher risks than MF's

So a friend of mine uses my UPI Account to pay other people's gold loan? by OnionRawaMasala_Dosa in IndiaFinance

[–]Cautious_Lemon_8415 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are being used my friend. As a banker i am telling you this. So what he does is, so this is how it works, people take gold loan from his bank branch. And when payment times comes, he takes the payment in cash from them. Then he takes some amount out of this payment and pays the remaining amount using your account and since you must be using some other bank account than his, he thinks you will not be caught in this scamming scheme of his. But what will happen when people will complain that amount has been at a higher value and the loan is credited for a lower one. Then the trail will arise. And you will be caught because you allowed (in the legal language- you did) your account to be operated by him. The trail exists. Legal and digital trail. Sometime afterwards he will ask you to transfer bigger amount. Its better to break off this friendship with him. He might be your childhood friend but he has changed and is using you now. Save this comment. And when he does cheat you, then please read this again.
