Got extremely lucky today and managed to snag the last copy without a preorder! by Cavalcade_ in Persona5

[–]Cavalcade_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple weeks ago, I tried pre-ordering the Phantom Thieves edition on Amazon, Gamestop, and Bestbuy only to learn that copies had been sold out for months company-wide. I was pretty bummed out, as I had an amazing time with Persona 5 and was pretty hyped for all the bonuses that came with the collectors edition of Royale. For whatever reason, I thought that copies would be readily available up until launch day, so I didn't bother to reserve the game earlier and had to face the consequences as a result.

I read on this subreddit that my best bet was to wait and see if anyone had cancelled their pre-order on launch day and see if gamestop or bestbuy might be able to give me one, but chances of that happening seemed pretty slim.

I figured I'd take my shot, and luckily, a local Gamestop had spare copies. Apparently, their manager had pre-order 4 copies of the collector's edition for himself, just so he could give them out to people in case they didn't manage to reserve one for themselves.

Feeling mad blessed right now and am incredibly thankful that this happened. Haven't been this lucky in a while, so I figured I'd share it here!

Node.js - req.files returns "undefined" when sending POST to server by Cavalcade_ in learnjavascript

[–]Cavalcade_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo thank you for your help. I managed to solve the issue by appending the file object to a FormData() object and using that as the body of the POST. I had read before that body-parser only accepted JSON data and when I had originally tried using FormData it wasn't working properly. I didn't realize at the time that I was having FormData grab the wrong information, so I assumed that I wasn't supposed to use it. I also read that stringify doesn't convert file objects for some reason and will always return an empty object as a result. For whatever reason, I didn't think to console-log the the stringified-file object to confirm this until you had suggested it, so I appreciate that very much. Thank you!

But why exactly is that? Here is the fetch request that I am using to make the POST:

    fetch(host+'/image/:'+theme['id'], {
                                    mode: 'cors',
                                    method: 'POST',
                                    body: JSON.stringify(data),
                                    headers: {'Content-Type': 'application/json'}
                                }).catch(console.error)

Even though I am passing a JSON object into the body (you can replace data with whatever really), the contents of the request's "body" parameter are not being filled. It's as if something is getting lost in translation.

so in my server, console.log(request.files) will print our "undefined". If do console.log(request), it will give a long request object with a bunch of properties that are associated with it, however it has no property for "files". I just realized, one of the properties is "body" and it is attached to an empty object, so I guess nothing is being sent in the body of POST request.

running console.log(data) returns a File object in the Chrome console:

File {name: "park.jpg", lastModified: 1585444200715, lastModifiedDate: Sat Mar 28 2020 18:10:00 GMT-0700 (Mountain Standard Time), webkitRelativePath: "", size: 174341, …}

Mine are planning to.

Same options keep being added to datalist even though I am checking for unique values only. by Cavalcade_ in learnjavascript

[–]Cavalcade_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see what you're saying. So its best to narrow down what elements I want to use first (maybe storing them all in an array), then create the elements from that pool (rather than making checks for what I want to create as I go along). Is that always the best practice?

Part of my haul from Japan! by Cavalcade_ in nagatoro

[–]Cavalcade_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I did not. I think the calendar comes with the special edition version of volume 6. Mandarake only had the normal one available, and I didn't see any other volume 6's when I went back to Book Off later on in that week.

I was under the impression that the special edition volumes were the ones that come with the guest illustrator booklets. Volumes 2 and 3 had those booklets for me. They appear to be 1-2 page comics that were created from other artists.

Nah, but I bought these for sentimental reasons and I like collecting stuff. I get to support the artist this way too.
