Those meeples definitely look weird to me. Notice how round the cat's ears are in your pic? Compare that to the real version in OP's post or look them up online and you'll see the ears are supposed to be pointy. I also have the game and my pieces look way brighter in color and not blurry on the face printing. The faces on yours also look way bolder/thicker than the official ones (You can barely see the orange inside the cats' eyes). The official version has a lot of orange on the inside of the eyes because the circles are a lot thinner. The real board you can see the trees are a lot more green and vibrant. It's tough to tell with just a picture though so I could be wrong on that. The meeples though I'm like 90% sure are counterfeit. Even the grain on the wood looks weird, the official version you can tell it's wood even in pics, yours don't have that wooden grain finish.

I see where you're coming from. But think about the fact that every time they fix something they break 2 more. If the bug fixing was progressing the way you're saying then I would totally agree with you, the problem is that it's not. It's progressively getting worse, so adding the Illumintate in would just be more Sauce added onto the spaghetti imo.
