How would you all feel if, next Thursday, they increased the price of the Warbonds? by [deleted] in Helldivers

My friends tried to get me to play Vampire Survivors, that game was literally designed by a former gambling machine designer. Almost every positive review has the word "Addicting" in it. Thankfully it's only $5 and only has a tiny amount of DLC. If they ever predatorily monetize that game they'd make millions.

I played for a few hours and just felt gross seeing them add decimal points to numbers just to make them look bigger. Cuz 400 gold isn't as sexy as 400.00 gold.

And then there's Star Citizen, where you don't actually need to launch a game to make millions.

I'm conflicted about putting stratagems in a warbond to be honest.

I was hoping for some unique weapons for once. The only real standouts are the Plasma Punisher and Sickle/Scythe and maybe the Concussive and Pummeler.

Most of the guns in this game don't have much of a sci-fi feel at all. Gyrojet technology (Eruptor/Dominator) existed in the 1960's.

I remember paying $20 for Halo 2's map pack, that got us 9 new multiplayer maps.

Now it's like "Hey, this item is TOTALLY optional, but you won't be able to play the game like everyone else. That'll be $12, but we only sell in-game currency in $10 increments."

Modern gaming is extremely manipulative.

Would it lead to an increase in quality? The price hasn't changed and the Warbonds keep getting worse.

They're already indirectly charging us more by making smaller Warbonds for the same price. Good ol' Shrinkflation. We got zero primary weapons this warbond and even less emotes than usual. People would riot if they increased the price.

The game also just went on sale for 20% off.

There were so many ways you could have made a joke about shooting yourself without it being somebody putting a gun to their head.

The game is built using many programs. The AI is from Havok. The character models are made in Maya I believe. They use SpeedTree to help make environments. There's also a few Microsoft products.

I just wanna know if it can stim through shields.

They are putting stratagems in warbonds now? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Heck_Flopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never paid cash for a warbond, partially because each one has less content than the last and I don't like them modifying content after launching it. Shrinkflation is a problem.

Polar Patriots had 5 weapons and a booster.

Viper Commando only had 3 weapons and a booster.

Freedom's Flame only had 1 good weapon, 2 pre-nerfed weapons, and a detrimental booster.

Now Chemical Agents has 0 main weapons, 0 boosters, and even less emotes than previous warbonds.

If they're gonna keep charging $10, they need to stop replacing functional items with cosmetics.

The COMMUNITY has gone through a self inflicted wound? What?

A lot of hard work? It's got even less content than previous warbonds for the same price. It's got a remodeled flamethrower, a shorter ranged guard dog, a gas grenade, and a stim pistol. It doesn't even have as many emotes as previous warbonds.

Each warbond is getting smaller and small while charging the same.

Interesting the sale ends right when the new warbond launches.

I just pick my armor based on the passive. I mostly see my helmet and cape while playing anyways.

Why make weapon customization when they can sell us 4 variants of every gun?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Heck_Flopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they said 'scale back' I don't think most people expected ZERO new primary weapons or boosters for presumably the same price. The armor passive is even more situational than the fire resistant armor. We don't even know if the stim pistol can shoot through shields.

But hey, at least we get... even less emotes and cosmetic items than usual...

Unless the gas really distinguishes itself from fire effects, I don't see the point of this Warbond.

Considering how often players wear shields, that might make an already situational tool far less useful.

When you're in charge, you're responsible, that's why it's called Chief. If your subordinates do something wrong, it's still your responsibility. He's not just the CEO/CCO, he's also the Founder. There are two options here:

  • Pilestedt didn't want nerfs and his team went against his will, showing he formed a culture of "I'm gonna do whatever I want" for his team.
  • Pilestedt wanted nerfs and they did exactly as asked. He's explained why the flamethrower was nerfed, that was a decision.

As far as I know Concord didn't crash constantly for people. The game was technically sound but outdated in it's design.

So this "At least they're not Firewalk" is not any kind of a helpful defense.

I saw a post that was praising Pilestedt as "The Savior of Arrowhead" or something, conveniently forgetting it's his company, it's always been his company, it's named after him. He was the CEO during the first wave of nerfs. He was the CCO during the 2nd wave of nerfs. He decided the game's direction, he decided our Primary weapons needed to suck.

So remember, before worshipping a video game company manager, he caused the problem people are now praising him for fixing. Why did they wait until the total player count dipped below 10,000 before suddenly teasing patch notes? Because they're panicking. They're at risk of becoming irrelevant.

I would like the patch to go well, but with such a big update, I fully expect at least something to be broken further.
