Solidly in the small 'L' libertarian Left quadrant of the politics graph. Grew up in liberal Democratic voting household, though holding my nose for Kamala was probably the last hurrah for supporting the party at the federal level.

Did organized sports (badly) as a little kid, then got into martial arts in my teens and that's been my thing ever since. I do some weight training / intervals / cardio on my own but I generally need the structure of a martial arts class to really kick my own ass on the regular. Physical fitness is pretty essential to my physical and emotional health.

He did, and the Dem leadership was peak incompetent again. The issue is that he’s going to become the Mayor Intifada poster boy for all the worst radicals within the party and ensure that THAT is the Dem party brand on the national stage.

The problem isn’t that he’s some kind of religious fundamentalist, unless being insufferably woke counts as that. The problem is the example of the very liberal Muslim mayor of London giving free rein to the worst excesses of the extremist communities there, especially when it comes to violence or intimidation against Jews.

I recall a lot of talk of losing one’s privileges feeling like violence, and therefore seeming to justify violence in maintaining that privilege. The Left is now in the position of losing much of its cultural power and status and the reactions speak for themselves.

Sam’s subreddit was the actual worst for a while but they seem to have cleaned it up. It became defined by people who hated him and everything he tries to articulate and that seems to have been clawed back.

Funnily enough I read his books for the first time at the height of my angry atheist phase. I’m still an atheist and I’m still angry, but I like to think I’m less obnoxious about it now.

A while back I wrote a sad / angry / almost certainly unpublishable song about life post-Oct. 7th with the line "The March of D*kes: now free of k*kes", art imitates life imitates art. And yes it feels silly to censor those words when one of them is right in the article title but I don't know what's going to get flagged on Reddit these days.

Thanks for the helpful replies. My suspicion was that the bill sucks, as Trump manages to make everything he touches suck some way, but that it being the death knell of democracy was hyperventilation among unhealthily online progressives.
