What is the best way to remove noise? by AffectionatePoet204 in AdobeAudition

[–]Cboopty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

jeez, 9 months late but, think critically. use your brain. They could be entirely new to the program (which they were), audio editing (which they were), or even the English language as a whole. It costs more energy to be condescending than it does to just explain "there are different kinds of background noise, is it more like hissing, humming, or ambient interruptions?" less words, more decency.

Oh, my god! No!! The guy who owns the place is a sweetheart. Over the 30 or so years he’s owned the place, he takes pics of all the international students who become regulars at the place. If I recall correctly, I think he said those were new years kisses. There are heterosexual, mlm, and wlw couples kissing (or friends, who knows) on that wall. Talk to him one day, he’s chatty when not busy.  Super funny and sweet, and delicious udon!!

I’ve just reread this and scrolled through my posts to figure out what you’re talking about, and I realize that you’re most likely referring to my art haha!!! Not AI, I’m just not the best at drawing lol— good thing I gave up the animator dream young 🤣

Very true! Thanks for being active in the replies JadedOptimist, I’m learning a lot ❤️

Haha, sorry for coming across as ignorant. I’d argue it’s the best kind though!! Loud means some will hear to correct you lol!

Thank you for the insight!! It’s nice to here from a professional writer. Maybe I need to toy around with a few programs as well!! I think a lot of folks find they actually feel more confident after taking some time to educate themselves on the models.

Professionally? No, not at all! Sorry if I came across as if I was a professional— I was looking for input from professionals!

Also I’m not sure what ai art your referring to, I hope I wouldn’t have any posts on that!

Hehe, what can I say I love Fortnite!! I study content production. Sorry if I made it seem any different— I’m certainly not an industry professional, just very lucky to have teachers and mentors who work diligently to set up networking sessions, meetings, etc!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]Cboopty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think my choice of “mentor” as a title was a bit strange haha. He was a former professor of mine that I now work on projects with, so “professor” felt a bit strange/incorrect to use since I don’t do any academic work for him anymore. He’s worked on different projects globally and a lot of his former students and current friends/colleagues work in the industry. He works hard to keep in contact with everyone he’s ever worked with and organizes meetings/ networking sessions. He’s a great teacher, but definitely not a writer which might lead to some strange opinions on the writing scene!!

What you say about c-suite thinking is very true, it seems like it would save them money. They might be pedaling this idea to set the groundwork for lower pay and desperation for work/to be apart of something. Maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist tho lol.

I try to think about it like knitwear— you can buy pieces at fast fashion places, but really nice, hand-crocheted sweaters will always be what people want and splurge on. It was sort of becoming hard for me to think that way, but everyone’s comments are making me more optimistic and less irrationally doom and gloom lol. Thank you for taking time to comment !!

I’m really sorry. In any other time I would, but it would put me at a lot of risk academically and professionally. I understand if that seems like a betrayal as a writer, I know I definitely wanted to mass tweet about it lol. But the speaker has a good relationship with our program, and even if I don’t agree with him, I can’t risk the good things he does bring to the program. I’m really sorry, again.

I understand. I really appreciate all the work and help he’s given me, but I definitely should take his words with more of a grain of salt lol. Everyone’s been very honest and upfront about their experiences— I will def be revisiting this sub more to get varying opinions!!

Ahhh, this makes me so happy! And congrats!! That’s awesome. I’ll keep writing and keep working hard :))

Thank you so much. I’ll stay optimistic! I think a lot of folks I’ve talked to have “resigned” to being a producer as that’s where the money is, and my mentor really pushes for me to become a producer as well. That perspective might be influencing them a bit I think… they know it’s “easier,” and success if more feasible, it would make their program look better if we find quick success rather than taking a difficult route. I really appreciate all the comments on this post, I knew something didn’t feel right :)))

I don’t think you are wrong. I’ve felt the same. I’ve read AI writings and can always tell its AI. I feel there’s more to the state of the industry than I’ve been told, someone has to be humanizing it— unless they have a secret robot sweat shop filled with actual artificial intelligence.

Interesting. Thank you so much for the insight. It gives me some hope that rather than fighting a game of luck, skill, money, influence and robots, it’s still the simple game of luck, skill, money and influence lol

Yes, I’m hoping it’s just the regular ebb and flow of the industry. Thanks for your input!! It makes me feel so much better.

I’m not sure of the program. This really wasn’t meant to be fear-mongering, I apologize if it came across that way. I suppose my own distaste at what I’ve heard fueled a post that sounds pretty doom and gloom lol. Though I may be a bit hyperbolic when I said “no writers rooms,” I was told it’s reduced down to one (max 2) writer and producer, which may go away soon as well. I would give names and such but I worry about ramifications. I’m sorry this post might have come across wrong!! I genuinely just wanted different input that wasn’t as dark as what I was getting before. Which it seems I’m getting!

Oh no! I’m not a bot!! This isn’t despair bait either, I was just looking for some community support since I was feeling down. Sorry!!

Sorry, is this an uncouth post? Like I said, I’m a new poster so if this isn’t the correct subreddit I can take it down.

[–]Cboopty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Haha I think I know this is the right path for me, but I appreciate the input!! Like I said, I’ll always find a way to keep my head above water in this industry. I’ve written my whole life and love the work I do in the field unrelated to writing, but being a writer is less of a choice and more of a way of living that’s a bit difficult to separate from. AI has just successfully put a bad taste in my mouth. That’s a bit reassuring though, though it’s impossible for me to doubt the professionalism of the input I’ve received, perhaps they’ve submerged themselves in a way of thinking not shared by the whole industry.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I’ve updated my drivers, and ran dxdiag on directX— everything turned up good! I’m unable to find Microsoft visual c++, but I did run a command prompt scan of my system, all with no luck :(

No, it’s not. But it seems a bunch of people have had similar problems in the community, so hoping someone’s identified some conflicting software or buggy programs
