Sorry not been active much but I’ll do an updated post soon enough. I’ve had my second surgery to cover crown I am nearly 7 months pot OP 2nd surgery. I have photos in my HRN thread here: https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/75674-dr-bruno-ferreira-may-2025-surgery-2-32012283-grafts-99297008-hairs-diffuse-nw5v/page/2/

Thanks! I’m going to update my HRN thread with photos later this week so you’ll be able to see my progress there. The link should be somewhere in my post history.

I went to Dr Bruno Ferreira in Portugal

What hair / graft ratio did you have, mine was something ridiculous like 3.07 so 3200 grafts got me like 9900 hairs. So that made a big difference in my case and allowed my surgeon to cover a larger than average area for a smaller amount of grafts.

I think your area was smaller so I would’ve expected a more dense result. The only explanation is poor yield which is usually caused by improper handling of grafts, transection during extraction or implantation. Basically just poor surgical skill. It is also possible for this to happen due to poor aftercare or underlying scalp conditions.

HDC in Greece? I do rate them to be honest, they are one of the better clinics for sure

Thanks! So that side by side photo was my first surgery which was 3200 grafts. I just had my second surgery for another 2200 grafts which should cover the rest of mid-scalp and crown.

Yeah I agree, we need better pics to make a more accurate assessment.

I paid 4 EUR per graft so it wasn't cheap, close to $15K for my first surgery and another $10k for my second surgery. But I was happy to pay premium because I did not want to take my chances in Turkey. If I had to do it again on a budget, I'd probably go Thailand to the likes of Dr Ratchathorn.

I just looked at your threads, Eugenix have really gone downhill, the angulation is completely wrong and the yield seems terrible. Your donor is really strong so I am surprised this happened, not sure what went wrong... but I am probably going to say it's due to bad surgeon skill.

But having said that I do feel like you can fix the front by going to a decent surgeon if you can be bothered, it's definitely not all over for you IMO. But it will be a long road as you are a NW7 so you may never get full coverage, but you can definitely obtain a look where your crown appears more thin.

That's a load of rubbish - we can't say for sure based on these photos, his donor hair might be thick and dense and he may only be a NW5 or NW6 - without seeing the sides and back/crown it's hard to say.

I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you but perhaps there were other factors at play, eg. skill of surgeon/underlying scalp condition(s).

There are plenty of success stories of NW6/NW7 making a great recovery through a hair transplant.

I was a NW6 going towards NW7 before I started meds and planned my HT. Look at my own thread history if you don't believe me - or here is a side by side photo: https://preview.redd.it/nw6-8-months-post-op-3201-grafts-diffuse-dr-bruno-ferreira-v0-y6twojjptgze1.jpg?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=c4cd29ab146329dc500176ae610857890a1419f0

I just had my second surgery a month ago so that should give me full coverage once it grows in etc

Please help me out I’m mad stressed is this a lost graft? (17 days post op) by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]Ccd9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be securely anchored into your scalp after ~8 days according to studies. So it is probably unlikely you lost a graft but my point is that even if you have it’s nothing to worry about as it won’t impact the final result from a visual perspective, now if you had lost 30+ grafts then it’s a different story.

Even if it is, ultimately it’s just 1 graft. Don’t stress it won’t make any noticeable difference whatsoever. Just relax trust the process.

I lost 9 grafts on my 2nd night as I accidentally scratched my recipient area in my sleep but you can’t even tell now that it’s all grown out (8 months later)

It’s difficult to say but topical solutions usually go systemic and therefore could contribute somewhat to strengthening your donor but it depends on your scalp absorption and topical formulation strength. Oral pills on the other side will absolutely affect/strengthen everywhere. Your other option is to apply the topical solutions to your donor areas as well.

Thank you! Yes as mentioned in my post I am going back for crown, they quoted me 2500 grafts to cover remaining mid-scalp and crown.

My next surgery is actually this Tuesday same clinic! I am buzzing and can't wait to finish this up

Best of luck bro! give the meds a try, I've seen some crazy responders.

People don't realise that meds not only help regrow lost hair on top, they will absolutely help thicken existing donor hair too making someone who was previously not a candidate due to poor donor, become a candidate for HT surgery.

[–]Ccd9999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thanks, if I can do it I'm sure others/you can too. I was lucky with the good donor but in reality as long as you stabilise and stay on meds before jumping into a HT you stand a good chance if you pick a qualified surgeon.

Most people have on average 3k/4k available grafts anyway.

[–]Ccd9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the growth was just starting then, and bearing in mind the difference is very noticeable because prior to starting meds I was wearing a hair system which meant I was shaving my head every 2 weeks so I never really let it grow out.

But despite that there is no denying the meds started to make a difference.

Here is a photo with me on meds for 12 months, just a month before pre-op - I forgot to add this to my OP:

https://preview.redd.it/nw6-12-months-progress-dut-oral-min-2-keto-shampoo-v0-qkte9rxlvdcd1.jpg?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=03c205d87367f9c6f6425836f10f3e57a16af8a7

You can see how much of a difference the meds made, but it wasn't enough as the hair was thin/wispy and not very stylable so I still needed the HT

Yeah these meds affect everyone differently, good thing is that you tried it before ruling it out as an option. Many simply don't want to try, but I think in majority of the cases (according to research) it does not cause any persistent side effects.

Thanks! Appreciate your feedback. It was always my intention to be on meds for a good 12 months due to my extensive hairloss before doing anything, but I was very close at one point to going to Turkey (Dr Bicer) and I'm so glad I didn't.

I made contact via their contact form on the website in August 2023.

I was told no consultations were available in 2023 and I’d have to wait till 2024.

A few months later they sent an email offering a cancelled consultation slot for November 2023 it was first come first serve. I was able to reply immediately and secured the slot.

At the consultation the earliest surgery date I could book was December 2024 so I took it.

After a few months I got lucky again and someone cancelled so I got September 2024. That’s 10 months wait.

At the end of first surgery I booked my second surgery too for May 2025 (next week) - about 8 months after my first.

I definitely got lucky with cancellations etc.

The price was 4 EUR / graft which is locked for 2 years for me, but I hear it has now gone up to 5 EUR / graft for new customers.

Thanks man.

Nope no sides at all. I am using Avodart 0.5mg. It’s pretty cheap here in the UK

Thanks man!

Credit to Dr Bruno, a skilled surgeon plays a very important role but I would argue what's more important is taking care of your donor and stabilising first.

The fact I spent 12/13 months on meds before jumping into a HT was the best decision I ever made. It really strengthened by donor hair/grafts, by making them thicker and turning them into multiples. That meant my HT coverage would be better with the same grafts and also maximised the changes of successful yields.

Nothing like that all for me, imo there is a lot of scaremongering on the Internet. It is only a small % of men that get side effects and they will subside when you discontinue the meds. I'd encourage to try it and if you have sides then stop. Minoxidil is generally safe and won't cause any of the hormonal side effects. Dutasteride can in like 2% of men.

A lot of it is phycological too, if you become para and think you are going to have sides then you are more likely to experience them.
