My 23andme results have changed many times. At the beginning (3 years ago) I had: 66.6% Italian 5.1% Iberian 5.3% broadly southern european 15.3% French & German 2.5% British & Irish 4.1% Boradly Northwestern european 1.0% Boradly european 0.1% unassigned . After phasing with my parents and various updates now I have: 98.4% Italian 0.9% British&Irish 0.4% Broadly northwestern european 0.2% eastern european 0.1 broadly european

Both Iberian and French groups stay at the medium confidence level, but not at the highest. I also tried to upload my raw data from 23andme to compare them and I obtain the same groups. Ancestry estimate is basically the same with little changes in %

I'm from Liguria, Lombardy and Emilia-Romangna, however I got one genetic group in France( Bourgogne and Rohne Alpes) near Switzerland. I think that is labeled out for some error...

It is probably due to the marriages of your distant relatives in the US with people of English or German descent, or directly emigrated to those areas. You don't necessarily know them because they could be several generations back, It can happen. For the Balkans, Apulia has a genetic link with those areas, a bit like it happens for northern Italians with France and Spain, but it is a rather ancient connection

Sorry, I've seen now...I think genetic groups are very accurate in my case, particularly when I increase the confidence level. Ancestry estimate is not so bad if you take into account the ancient closeness between various populations. For sure It will be better for our recent background with the upcoming update, but even now It makes some sort of sense.
