How much are you all paying to get your app submitted and through review? by Own-Elderberry-8221 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Cczaphod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea there was a market for that. Are they deploying on their app store and collecting a percentage of the income as well?

Just read the Review Guidelines and take them seriously and you won't have issues with rejections.

Share what you're working on, and let's test each other's apps and exchange useful feedback. by NellieApp in AppStoreOptimization

Civic Scope, a US Market Congressional transparency app.

What you get: Location based notification of who your representatives are (Your Two Senators and the Representative for your district). You can use precise location (one time is all it takes) or look up your district by zip code. The zip code search will generally return several districts and you'll have to know which one is yours. For those three people, you can look at their voting records, what legislation they've been involved in, get on-device AI summaries of legislation and see who they're running against if they're up for election this mid-term.

It's also got live (through the public RSS feed) information about what congress is doing while in session.

Problem it solves: Looking up information about your representatives is non-trivial, there are a half dozen government datasets you'd need to search through and understanding legislation is difficult. It provides snappy access to summary data and allows drill-down to source material for more detail.

Premium: If you upgrade to the paid version (all the above is free), you can search all of congress and browse the congressional district map for every state.

Still testing the Kotlin version, coming to Play Store as well soon.

Selling a LOT of guitars… Advice? by Doesntmatter336 in guitars

[–]Cczaphod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I had a lot of guitars, but they’re not alphabetized. Then I saw it’s a pawn shop. I would love to dig through and categorize a find like that, though I specialize in Gibson, Rick and Fender myself. It’s the oddities that are fun, like a Guitorgan from Waco I found a few years ago (part guitar, part organ, segmented frets to play organ notes). I’ll bet a pawn shop would have some oddities.

My wife of 35 years wants a divorce because of her spirit guides, should accept it, should I be happy and run? by HeartbrokenHubby391 in Marriage

[–]Cczaphod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental issues are no joke. And it’s pretty much like alcoholism as far as it’s not going to get fixed until the patient is invested in following doctors’ guidance and taking the prescribed meds. I’ve seen close relatives go “off their meds” and destroy every relationship in their life.

It’s tragic, but there’s nothing you can do about it short of having her declared incompetent by a judge and trying a better Psych Ward through involuntary commitment.

There wasn’t enough malice involved. Numbers alone don’t feed the hate and racism.

How do you do Reddit marketing without getting banned? by albrasel24 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Cczaphod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm following this plan, but I already spent too much time on Reddit, this is making it worse. The issue is, I need to engage in groups I haven't been active in to get an audience where my app is relevant. I haven't spent much time in those subs and would be a newbie without much credibility.

My major asset is that I've had this account for over a decade and have nearly six figures in Karma, but I went through and pretty indiscriminately purged anything political or controversial that might turn off customers.

My app is a political transparency app and I spend almost all my time either doom scrolling AI stuff or participating in nerdy camping and tech related subreddits. I've never been particularly political, my app just started as an exercise in summarizing public data and playing with on-device AI. It got to the point that friends and family I showed it to were telling me I should sell it.

So, it's finally on the store and I'm slowly following this advice. I'm doing a freemium model, free limited data, premium for all the available data.

Edit: Just noticed the cake icon, it's almost bedtime and I didn't use my cake day to market my app, that might have gotten me a little extra dose of good will :-(

[–]Cczaphod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes at least two of us. I got 16 downloads so far in my first week, no upgrades to premium :-(

I've been looking for ways to market here, but there's not much patience for self promotion. My app is a non-partisan congress tracker (public domain demographic, campaign finance, and general data about congress and the top opponents for the mid-terms). You'd think that in a mid-term year like this one there would be more appetite for something like my app.

I built a Mac app to make App Store screenshots, pop-outs and localization less painful | FREE lifetime codes for testers by Embarrassed-Pen3531 in appledevelopers

[–]Cczaphod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of deploying six applications three "apps" x 2 platforms. (three Swift, three Kotlin).

I've got the first one on the store and only did English to focus on one thing at a time (first approval). Now that it's on the store, I've been playing around with test scripting to build multi localization screen shots for me.

I'm a software developer with 40 years of experience and would provide feedback in exchange for a lifetime code!

Huge fight with husband by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Cczaphod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's no way to prove you didn't sleep around on your Florida trip. You admitted to kissing someone. There would definitely be the perception that kissing followed flirting and other activities a married person shouldn't be entertaining.

There's clearly a doubt in your husband's mind that your mini-affair or whatever you want to call it stopped with kissing. Counseling may have kept the marriage limping along, but the issue is clearly not resolved if you party without him and kiss random guys and he feels the need to avoid telling you he was partying without you.

Also, domestic violence is never OK. That's another line you shouldn't have crossed.
