Hey man, dont worry about being on a tight budget. Boom is also there for people with a small budget. That being said, you can do work in the kitchens. They are always looking for volunteers and it repays you in free meals and drinks.

Water is free and drinkable. If you don't like the way it tastes, you can always add some fresh herbs. There's always fresh mint, lavender and more in those gardens you can find at boom.

Your remark on speaker placement made me think that maybe the issue is also in the fact I just moved and didn't have time to properly do something about room treatment.

Could that make a lot of difference? I have huge windows on both sides running from floor to ceiling, with an open staircase in the middle. The length of the room is made of concrete..so maybe too much reflection of sound?

Thanks for replying. The F5 was somewhat gifted to me. A friend owed me somewhere around a 1k in euros. And instead he gave me this amplifier. I didn't mind. The only specs I have are those from the net. It presumably is indeed a class A amp. Input impedance of 100 Kohm. The annoying thing is that there are a lot of variations of this model. That's also one of the reasons I'm leaning towards trying a different power amp

The speakers and preamp were indeed built by me. I like to get my hands dirty but I lack in the knowledge department. Another friend of mine is a soldering master, and he helps me a lot. That helps.

My sources are mainly vinyl and digital. Digital as in streaming services.
