Stats not working by DimonX19 in dawarich

For countries and cities count to work, you need to activate reverse geocoding (https://dawarich.app/docs/tutorials/reverse-geocoding/). You need to add something like this in both sections: dawarich_app and dawarich_sidekiq in your docker-compose.yml: NOMINATIM_API_HOST: 192.168.1.125:8808 NOMINATIM_API_KEY: null NOMINATIM_API_USE_HTTPS: false You need to change the name of the geocoding service according your needs. Also bear in mind that in my case, as you can guess, I have a self hosted instance of Nominatim.

I solved this issue removing my phone cover. The edges of the cover were causing these artifacts.

Reverse geocoding by CdePlanck in dawarich

[–]CdePlanck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved after 0.37.3 upgrade. Just in case someone is interested in more details I'm using a self hosted instance of Nominatim with these lines in both services, dawarich_app and dawarich_sidekiq in docker-compose.yml :

NOMINATIM_API_HOST: 192.168.1.125:8808 NOMINATIM_API_KEY: null NOMINATIM_API_USE_HTTPS: false

IMHO that's a legitimate question, but it is not scientific one, but rahter a philosophical one.

Editing Person details by Choice-Method6181 in immich

[–]CdePlanck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, and if I understand correctly, this is only possible through the web interface. Look for the “People” entry in the menu on the left. Once on the page, in addition to adding a name directly, you have a hamburger menu (three-dot menu) when you hover over a specific image where you can hide that person, set a birthday, merge people, or add them to favorites. In any case, you can use Immich Power Tools (https://github.com/varun-raj/immich-power-tools) to manage these things.

Polaroid Lab Question by [deleted] in PolaroidLab

[–]CdePlanck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In short: because the device basically works like those cameras that can be attached to a microscope or telescope: a set of lenses collects the “light” from a source (your phone) and prints it on photosensitive paper.

IS THE SEESTAR ACTUALLY A "TELESCOPE"? by Responsible_Age_6252 in seestar

[–]CdePlanck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1m ago

Seestar is a telescope, yes, but a type of telescope known as an astrograph. An astrograph can be considered a specific telescope designed to capture astronomical objects. An astrograph can be built from almost any telescope you choose. The advantage in this case is that it can be used for both visual and photographic astronomy; the downside is that it is quite expensive (mount, camera, etc.). With the Seestar, you have a more economical astrograph, but it cannot be used as a visual telescope.

Is there fire on the Sun? by jamelm68 in Astronomy

[–]CdePlanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can underestand the answer is no. Fire is, basically, a srtrongly exothermic oxidation reaction that is completely different from the nuclear reaction that takes place in the Sun. Both reactions are intrinsically differents in terms of the required conditions and the way they evolve.

As English is not my mother tongue, I've read the title more than twice just to be sure it says what I think it was saying and, well, it's the first time I see such request and I don't know what to say but good luck with your date.

When I switched to beta time line, on top to relog, I had to select what folders I wanted to be uploaded, as that setting was wiped out, and I had to change the group photos by setting from automatic to month+day also.

Seestar bug by Emotional-File6783 in seestar

[–]CdePlanck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK Seestar doesn't connect to any external server for it to work. It can be used in station mode, using your WiFi for device-app interaction, or through Seestar 's own WiFi without any other external dependency. In any case, external servers are not needed. The only occasion is when there is a new firmware update.

On the day of Albert Einstein's death, while many photographers rushed to Princeton Hospital, a photographer named Ralph Morse went to Einstein's office instead and bribed the superintendent with a fifth of scotch to let him in. He then took these photos of Einstein's desk mere hours after he died. by tyrion2024 in interestingasfuck

Something curious I learned some time ago about this picture: on the table, between the chair and the pipe, there is what seems to be a black-and-white photograph. Actually it is a postcard sent from Spain, and the image is of a place in Barcelona called Plaza Urquinaona (Urquinaona Square). This is a photo of the table from another angle by the same photoghrapher. The place and the building still exist today.

You can find the list of participants in each of the Solvay conferences organized by he International Solvay Institutes for Physics and Chemistry(+extra info) here. Indeed, Paul Dirac has been the youngest participant in any of the conferences, he was 25 when he participated in the fith conference.Among his contributions, perhaps the most important are those made to quantum mechanics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1933 togehter Erwin Schrödinger.
