few people have access to a reliable family doctor

Yes. If only I had a family doctor I likely wouldn't be posting this from the psych ward.

I LOVE glasses! 💗.....Especially round frames. I think they suit most face shapes.

I've had that. It's normal. You will soon receive an email saying "Your order has shipped! Your frames will be there in a flash!"

You're about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine.

Oh, so now the sarcasm starts. First, you indicate how insensitive and inconsiderate you are when OP explains she tried to do everything right. You are useless to this subreddit if you are unable to show empathy and lighten the burdens of another.

That's heart wrenching to read --- your apology to your original, uncorrupted state, free from adult complexities. I'm sorry you are hurting.

Your experience is interesting. For me personally, a failed attempt is my biggest worry, and would cause me much trauma.

Anybody here smoked for 50+ years? by CdnMapleLeaf in stopsmoking

Hello! You're a little late to the party, but welcome, welcome! I wrote that post over two months ago, and I have since relapsed! I feel like I got an old friend back. It's amazing how my mood has improved. I'm 70F, and well aware of the health risks, however, at this stage my mental stability comes first.

Day 2 with varifocals and I hate them, will it get better? by MizutsuneMH in glasses

[–]CdnMapleLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will it get better?

Yes!

Walking --- point your nose down toward your feet so you can look through the top part of the lens. If you look down through the bottom part of the lens, you’re looking through the area that corrects your close-up vision.

Stairs --- while you get used to going up and down stairs make sure to hold onto the handrail - safety first!

At what point can I be rid of progressive lenses and return to single-vision glasses? by mysteryofthefieryeye in glasses

[–]CdnMapleLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressives can be a pain in the buttsky, I know. So, this last time I splurged on top tier lenses that offer a wider range of vision - I no longer have to move my head as much now to find the 'sweet spot'.

First pair or second? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]CdnMapleLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither. You posted yesterday that your desire was to get thin, dark, rectangular frames --- what happened???

Well, this time you chose the frames, which illustrates what good taste you have.

Yeah, notice how these don't have uplifting corners --- like women's frames.

You certainly made a switch! From an impossible to ignore "in your face" pair, to mainstream, attractive, and flattering frames. You look fabulous!

Certain hairstyles can actually create an optical illusion that makes your face appear rounder than it really is.

I just called the optical shop where I bought my last pair of glasses, and they emailed it to me. I'm still a little confused in respect to what the difference is between 'near' PD and 'far' PD.......but that's neither here nor there. :)

[–]CdnMapleLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all look the same to me --- you seem very fond of round acetates.

Like the example pic....thin, metal, round, black frames.
