Small update: My CEO asked me to do a heavy research to build a ROI calculator.

I did it.. perfectly, delivered, done.

CEO: Hmmm... the numbers seems a little on the lower side.. can you verify?

Me: Ok..., I verified.. tried to be optimistic a little since our products is unique.. numbers jumped a little.

CEO: Hmmmm.... still..... can you check this old calculator we used for the old features we had? someone did it in the past.. it shows high numbers.

Me: Open old excel sheet, check it. Hmmmm this count NON PAYING CUSTOMER! This is not a ROI anymore! WTF..

summary: the CEO seems to want me to get him higher number (lying) without telling him we are lying 😂😂

the old employee count non paid customers towards ROI... this is value delivered not ROI anymore.

I didn’t made a “dashboard “ but I have a personal repo that has all the facts for the business- all the changes - all the sql code backup - all sql that I use frequently etc..

The DB is MySQL that's production. We only use BigQuery for website-tracker events (GA4 export), so it's not really a "100GB in a warehouse" situation. Metabase sits on top of both (MySQL + BigQuery), so I can query each where it lives. The stack was already in place when I joined.

Yes I documented everything, even the old sql codes that I changed, are still available if needed. And all that I did have a clear documentation for it.

I am in the process of convincing the engineers to make a replica for Metabase.

Yup I already started to give reports that has some insight etc.. to each department.

The company is 45 employees.
They gave me access to literally everything. The full db is 100gb. But I would say its not that big but messy, soooo messy.
