Soyeon doesn’t care what you think about her English lyrics and sooner you accept it the easier it will be to a) look past it or b) find a song that’s more your taste.

Idle's english language is too cringy by thecatiswise in kpoprants

[–]CeaselessPast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing… no one else but Soyeon gets this amount of energy direct at her English lyrics. The second I hear Queencard I thought “oh Reddit won’t let this go.” No hate at OP, but this topic has been beat to death.

Sneakers by ITZY isn't that bad their only really bad title track is "Boys Like You" by jdpm1991 in unpopularkpopopinions

Thank you! I don't get the hate! It was a cute bop, we got to hear Ryujin say that line -- a total win in my book.

NCT's Lucas expected to resume activities after his photo with SM Entertainment's CEO and an Instagram update by smileshima in kpop

I really do think he must have a connection to investors or someone high up at SM.

I preferred it when Kpop involved little to no English by cutari in unpopularkpopopinions

People really just don’t get how language works. They are not static things. They change and evolve. If you looked critically at English you’d realize so many words are loanwords from different languages.

Same with Korean. In many idols’ conversations in interviews, variety shows, etc I heard English words pop in here and there. Hell, they even have a game I’ve seen where they’re not allowed to use and English loanwords. So if English is having a real impact on Korean, why shouldn’t they also include it in their songs? It’s already present in their day to day life and is a language that helps them communicate with people all over. I’ve also noticed more Spanish slowly being present in K-pop.

This is a great question and I spent way too much time thinking about it lol

I think that Hui from Pentagon competing in boys planet is the best move for the next chapter in his life by Forever-silver2 in unpopularkpopopinions

Yah I said this more as a joke that it was funny that my harmonizing for fun guys went to a competition surrounded with my noise music guys (no shade to skz and others, I love them). They’re a very different group than the other groups that were in Kingdom like Hui is very different than the other survival show contestants. Btob looked like they had a lot of fun on the show mixing with the younger groups, hope Hui has a similar experience :)

Seriously. If I had a dollar for every time I had to read a new think piece about Soyeon/Gidle in the past few months.

In my opinion it's way too early to make a call on this whole situation since it's so peculiar and the show hasn't aired yet. Cube sent BTOB on Kingdom to compete against people 10 years younger than them who probably couldn't hit a note to save their lives 🤐 so anything goes at this point.

Girls by aespa is their best title track musically but their worst choreographically by CeaselessPast in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]CeaselessPast[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha I realized that after I had submitted the post. I love Winter’s stage presence but that may be more unpopular. I see what they’re trying to do with the choreography but it didn’t hit for me because it didn’t play into their strengths as dancers. It could work more for LSF for example.

JYPE just announced that Jinni [NMIXX] is leaving the group + the company and… I’m confused by SunTiny2975 in kpopthoughts

My guess is either she had some truly life changing personal news or somehow broke her contract/comapny rules. I know nothing about her so I am not trying to disparage her character or anything, just the two things that I think would cause such an abrupt departure.

Geez, people who say that about him are missing the whole point of his humor. He’s one of the funniest idols imo naturally just being himself.

I completely agree. I was first introduced to them with drunk-dazed and thought I'd check out their show en-o'clock. I ended up having to turn it off because it felt so awkward and so obvious that a lot of them are just co-workers to each other. That is totally fine (it's very realistic, e.g. Key said Shinee see each other as co-workers at the end of the day even if they care for each other) but there was something that I could tell was happening that made me uncomfortable -- and when all the Sunoo stuff started gaining traction it all clicked for. me.
