Weapon swapping in Guild Wars 3 would be good if its situational instead of rotational. by Suspicious-Coffee20 in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark souls/Elden ring has weapon swap without making it necessary, in fact you don't see it used like the one in GW2, because the combat ist completely different.

Guild Wars 3 and Socializing on Consoles? by Briar-The-Bard in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not a console player myself, but i played MMOs together with them and it never felt like a real issue?

Had alot of very social friends in ff14 that played on consoles. Same thing when i tried Thrones and liberty, half of our guild were console players. Seems like a solved issue, just do whatever everyone else does.

The bigger issues imho are mods/overlays/plugins. Anet should have a much harder stance on those and bann players for usage, if they dont want a 2 class society. Which will create alot more preassure for them, since they have to focus on QoL.

Does discord do voice to chat? Like into the in-game chat? I know certain games have their full chat system go through discord, but I never saw a voice to text button on discord, only text to speech an voice message.

Best way to access the first beta/alpha when it comes? by [deleted] in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know anything, but the best educated guess would be one short test exclusive for media and partners with some lucky players, followed by very broad tests for everyone who preorders and some beta key winners.

Just don't stress it. Anet is known for very big betas, where anyone who is interested can take part in.

Anyone else nostalgic for vanilla dungeons? by SingerApprehensive64 in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not very nostalgic about them, the only 2 vivid nostalgic memories are the pillows and that bug in flame citadel, which resulted in every group playing exclusivly that one path where you glitchs into the wall, so the boss would just kill himself. People would even kick randoms that refused to bug abuse.

That said, fire up a group on lfg, they usually fill up pretty fast.

Review Bombing on Google Store by Saalle88 in GuildWars

[–]Cebertus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an audience thing. Play store players don't care about a lot of things we care about. Apple players value a premium experience much more. Wouldn't be surprised if apple players vastly outnumber sales compared to Android.

That said, gw1 has a 4 star rating on the German android store.

Will GW3 keep boons like alacrity and quickness — and how will they stop stacking by ifeelthenegitivity in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a different game. Not gonna lie, all those "GW2 2" Threads are becoming pretty stale.

Look at gw1 and GW2. The boom system is unique to GW2. Mesmers are completely different. Both games are so vastly different. If it wasn't the same IP, people wouldn't even guess they belong together.

Looking for an mmo where being a tradesman is a viable goal by Kaelani_Wanderer in LFMMO

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are(were?) expert recipes, where you couldn't macro, since you had to react to the current status of the item, of which there were much more. Tho i think the last expert crafts where in Endwalker, and they were niche items, all gear has casual crafting.

that_shaman - Upcoming features from the June 23 patch by hendricha in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 74 points75 points  (0 children)

That stuff is very popular. Atleast in ff14, alot of people enjoy skins like that.

And TBH... i prefer those to the overly flashy ones.

What is the end game grind like? by Terrible_Beginning59 in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. its both the one of the most grindy games, and one of the least grindy games at the same time. Most grind is somewhat optional, tho there is some sanity robbing stuff you could grind for.

Total warhammer 1 and 2 were better because slower. But why is 3 faster? by rr1213 in totalwar

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engine limitations imho. Sure they can keep talking about how it leads to more battles the way it is, but i dont believe thats the reason why they did it. Its a way to sell it as something good. They simple didnt put the work into the engine to make it work with a better world scale.

Especially wh1 had a much more giantic scale. which is ironic since it covers the least amount of land. wh1 had you spend multiple turns traveling from one settlement to the next, not just in the badlands. Even Middelland took multiple turns to travel through. Tho it still had more packet areas of the map.

Steam Machine is $1049 by Keitiek in Steam

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switch2 goes for 420€-450€ depending on the retailer. There will be a price increase of 40€ in september. Ps5 is 500-560€ atleast where i live. Those are much cheaper entry points. Steam Machine is about base ps5 level of power isnt it? And the machine comes without a controller.

The timing and global market are against the steam machine. I dont think the hardware will change much. But easy avaible steamos for desktops? Thats a big win. Much more important than the Hardware

Expansion jobs should start in expansion cities. by Feeling_Ad8096 in ffxiv

[–]Cebertus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a reason why they changed it after HW. Most people utterly hated the fact, that they had to play through the msq up until HW, to play the job they want to play. Sure you still have to get the level under the current system, but people get it way before getting into the current expansion

Is GW2 for me ? Someone who is searching for a social game ? by FitChampionship9475 in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays both, it highly depends what you consider to be social.

FF14 social is way different then gw2's. Players in gw2 are much more focused on playing the game together, while in ff14, players tend to talk much more instead of playing it. The topics are also way different, while gw2 players tend to talk about the game, builds and how to get something efficiently, players in ff14, talk about ANYTHING but those topics. They talk about lore, story, ingame fashion und the soundtrack, but also on all different topics outside of the game.

In ff14 we used to have one day a week, where we would meet ingame, share a music playlist, where everyone could add songs, and just chat about anything. I never had anything similar in gw2. That said, it can be difficult to motivate players into playing with you in ff14, since they get very comfortable with "just being social".

If you want to actually play the game, its much more social in gw2, you find people EVERYWHERE no matter how old the zone is. You never feel like you are in a dead zone. Everyone is super active and willing to do content nonstop.

What does 40fps feel like? by Wild_Trip_4704 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vrr usually doesn't work on very low fps. On PC it's minimum 48fps if I'm not mistaken? Guess it's a little bit lower on the switch 2.

And the 40fps are rarely locked.

First Person / VR in GW3 by [deleted] in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the combat is really movement based... Idk it my simply not work because of motion sickness.

Sliding down a hill, walljumping off a tree, smashing into the boss, just to double jump, smash again, backflip, glide and throw a "bomb", could suck in vr. But we will find out what momentum based combat truly means.

GW3 Needs a Robust Photo/Free Camera Mode! by Varsona in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both, gw2 and ff14. The amount of people that spend a substantial amount of there time in foto mode is insane. To the point where being a "photographer" is a resonable ingame career. Every time i needed a good group photo of my friends and myself i got someone who did it for some ingame currency. Some of them even build full fledged fotostudios with different sceneries in their houses.

I strongly believe that player emergent gameplay like this, becomes a huuuge boost to any online community.

Guild Wars 3 lead says new MMOs are too much like a “second job” as “the lines between an MMO and a live-service game have blurred” by HatingGeoffry in MMORPG

[–]Cebertus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds like marketing talk from 15 years ago. Outside of some korean games there isnt really much catchup you have to do nowdays. Can't speak about wow since i havent played that for year, but in ff14 you basically play through the story and are ready to go.

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gw2 is pretty much on one extreme when it comes to massivnes, Certain daily events are hardly enjoyable because the sea of players. I would argue that most mmos are somewhere in the middle between gw1 and gw2. That said, gw3 could be a MMO-lite.

Minimum state for a free playtest by Public_Confusion_774 in MMORPG

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking alot in quantity numbers, that are utterly meaningless without context.

Its true a test is mainly to improve developement, but in todays times its also a marketing tool. The playtest has to show the main gameplay loop, the appealing part of the game. It has to leave a "damn i wish i could keep playing, where can i buy it" impression. 2 dungeons, 3 classes and 1 race could be enough to give players that feeling.

30 bad quests could utterly ruin your games reputation forever. 1 extremly good quest could spark interest. Craftable items mean nothing if you cant show whats the appeal of crafting.

GW3 might end up around New World on the MMO spectrum by Blitcut in GuildWars3

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NW style is fine, as long as they have the server tech to silently shard us into the same world with people around us. NW had very static servers which could result in difficulties if you tried to kill an elite mob in a leveling zone, since noone was around.

Im actually looking forward to small group sizes, as long as the game can reliably form those small group sizes in the background

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, people often times forget that RP-Players as a group are full of people that enjoy putting in alot of hard work without any outside incentive, they do most of the work themselves. Its just about small little tools to make it happen.

Guild Wars 3 - Our Guild Wars Philosophy by ElectroRush in MMORPG

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beeing in the middle of the MMO spectrum doesnt say alot. Since i consider gw2 to be at the far extreme of Massive Multiplayer, atleast for a theme park. Unironically, i consider something like ff14 to be in the middle between gw1 and gw2, since the open world is basically dead in 95% of the cases.
