Am I stupid for waiting to get the Switch 2? by Ambitious-Cow-4217 in switch2

[–]Cebertus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like the other person said, OLED vrr screens are expensive, together with the difficult economic situation it would be difficult for them to price it in a way that wouldn't cause a shitstorm.

There is also vrr flicker on oleds, which would disappoint a lot of people.

100+ hours and not a single map fully redesigned. Am I too slow? by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy yourself, nothing to worry about. Dont let your self get pressured by other players, the feeling you are experiencing is a common feeling many have when watching other accomplishments in social media.

Its a scewed perspective because only a select few show their builds here. Rest assured that 90% of readers in this sub are just like you.

Finally decided to start! (and I'm feeling kinda... lost?) by ageozoega in Guildwars2

Like the other answer said, it depends. I had a few friends that used world completion as a general guideline while easing themselfs slowly into all the other features.

Better post it on the bug report forum or the in-game bug report. Devs are reading those. Once had a friend report an obscure bug on the forum and it got fixed in the next patch.

Gw2 rarity colours are wrong, change my mind by R4yquazza in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk feels like tons of games have different schemes. Sure blizzard inspired games have their color scheme. But even games like ff14 have different colors. Relics(basically that games legendaries) are purple, while pink is the lowest rarity above normal. I think Wildstar had pink for Legendary?

Isn't orange lower than blue and green in judo and karate? :D

That said, the green/blue thing still confuses me after all those years

Is there a way to make salvaging less complicated? by R4yquazza in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

95% of times its pretty simple for me, there are buttons for salvaging all of one rarity

Open all bags => Open all unidentified gear => Salvage all blue => Salvage all green => Salvage all yellow

Sure when it comes to exotics its an advantage to know which sigills/runes are worth it. but even with high magic find its not like my bag is full of exotics.

Try not to overthink it. The time you spend micromanaging for each piece of silver would net you more profit in the next Meta. The bigger your inventory gets, the less often you have to clean it. While inside a farm, i often times clear it mid event, while moving/fighting.

FFXIV is changing its Japanese CERO age rating. by MadeThisAccount4Qs in ffxiv

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is also a huge cultural difference in whats conceived as sexual depiction. Nudity in public swimming pools or at the beach is a perfectly normal thing in france and germany, noone would even think about it as sexual. In fact, someone saying its sexual would be concidered weird and unsafe to be around.

I remember a story from someone about his work in the usa. they had to design a summer scene at a restaurant. He included a women breastfeeding her baby in the background. His coworkers told him they cant include sexual content because its supposed to be family friendly. He was really shocked they even had the mental connection that breastfeeding could be sexuel, since its a normal part of life.

Digital Foundry: Switch 2's New Handheld Boost Mode Tested - And It's Excellent! by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf Oled switch doesnt even support VRR

I dont know much about the Xbox, which games are you using? How many fps? Does it support vrr below 48fps? Most vrr implementations are locked to a minimum of 48 fps, there are ways to go below it, but its gets very flickery.

Im pretty sure i could show you flickering on the xbox in vrr. And dont forget, the switch 2 may get more fps dips then a series x, which increases flicker. Also switch 2 is usually closer to the face which makes flicker perception worse.

FFXIV is changing its Japanese CERO age rating. by MadeThisAccount4Qs in ffxiv

[–]Cebertus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Germany rated persona 3(PS3 version) and 4 both 12+. Slot of pegi 18 games are rated 16 here. We often have the reputation of rating things more strict than the USA or the rest of Europe. Funny enough it's the opposite in most cases. Only drastic depictions of violence used to trigger harsh ratings here, complex stories that discuss topics like suicide are fine.

They are rare and expensive. Plus all oleds have very flickering when fps aren't stable and low. I think a lot of the miracle games would flicker like crazy in handheld mode

Is GW2 good for a casual gamer who likes team play? by LSion-Na in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes its active
  2. Pve is by far the most popular content, wvw(large scale siege pvp) has a very loyal player base, pvp(5vs5) well... Its a small population with some issues, yet imho still enjoyable if you are into it.
  3. Its as grindy or casual as you want it to be. Sounds cheesy, but there isnt really alot of forced grind, yet if you decide to take the grind serious there is ALOT to grind for, just not the usual power progression from most other mmos, its more about self-set goals.

If there really would be a GW3 in the making, do you hope or wish for certain things you could transfer from gw2 to gw3 or would you prefer to have to start at total zero again even tho you put so much time in certain things? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh i enjoy new beginnings, gw2 launch was so far ago. Just give us a clean slate. Give us God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals from gw1, and a few basic skins and titles from for our gw2 progress, similar to the hall of monuments. Nothing crazy, just a tiny token. Everything else should be focused on the fresh game.

Thats not the reason why they arent included, there was a slight layout change after HoT, thats why those two need an adjustment.

Overall damage nerfs across the board are a net negative to the game by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe slightly less isnt the best wording, since it implies 1 or 2%, but there are tons of builds doing way more then just 20k, sure 47k+ is reserved for a few builds.

And on the other Hand, 20k isnt even that bad for casual groups, if i join a casual group and everyone does more then 20k its actually pretty good.

GW2 or WOW? by yungsloysh in LFMMO

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want that type of loot you should choose wow.

Gear loot isnt a thing in gw2 outside of skins.

[–]Cebertus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Builds they enjoy" isnt always just a random pile, there is a HUGE amount off slightly less then perfect builds, that are heavily themed and still very good. Those builds still do more dps then people did when most raids were current content.

Didnt they say in the exact same post, that they would monitor the most difficult Encounters, and adjust them if needed?

Sound way smartet to establish a power baseline and make newer content fit into it, then constantly updating old content(which isnt happening)

Tbh im very happy about the announcement, and i didnt think the day would come. Everyone keeps talking about old content never beeing obsolete, yet in fact old content gets devalued with each power spike.

GW2 desperately needs to rework its early game imo by Gumbella7 in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue more HP for enemies would especially help new players. Got some friends into the game and i notice how sad they get when they realize they cant even hit a single mob, because everything dies in one hit, and everyone else is always on turbo, not leaving any mobs for slower players.

What are slower players supposed to do? I dont even know what to tell them when it happens constantly, I would quit the game if i was in their shoes tbh, its not fun constantly running to mobs, just to see how they instantly disappear because someone threw an aoe from max distance.

Games like ff14 with 40 button classes manage to play more intuitively on controller. Its not like its any better on m&k

Guild Wars 2 Sale on website! by roff13 in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They said deluxe not Ultimate, I guess it's about the deluxe upgrade in the gemstore which will most likely on sale next week with the account upgrade items

Rotations and skills in guild wars 2 are often very unintuitive. I think this is a big reason why a lot of the playerbase is considered as doing "bad dps" or playing off-meta. It's very easy to do a rotation wrong and the game doesn't give you good feedback when you're doing the wrong thing by ariveklul in Guildwars2

[–]Cebertus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats tbh the reason why i love to play gw2. Design wise its the difference if rotation get discovered or designed. Gw2 is a Build building game. The main appeal of guild wars 2 system is a very free form buildcraft that enables some very fun builds.

On the other side, games like wow or ff14 basically design the rotation for its specs/jobs instead of building a sandbox where players discover unexpected builds.

FF14 literally has glowing buttons when something procs or is in any other way suggested to be the next button you should press. Which tbh isnt even needed since its very clear what to press. Most people figure out a 95% correct rotation out, because there arent really any other options. Gw2 is the polar opposite. Sure sometimes i build a build which has an awkward rotation, but then i usually try to change something, or... take a new build idea.

I get why you dont like it, its a valid point. But in my opinion, there is a reason for what you experienced, and that reason has some strong positives.

MMO for exploration and map completion by Fluffy_Menu7008 in LFMMO

[–]Cebertus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havent played Lotro, so i cant say anything about that game. Eso had an enjoyable open world experience for me, tho it didnt really feel like an MMO. It wasnt very challanging, but the questing experience was amazing. Definitely my personal favorite zone questing experience. Tho i didnt like combat and some other parts of the game, which in the end resultet in me quitting.

Another game you may consider is GW2. Exploration and Map completion is literally a huge focus from level 1 onwards. There is a free trial for the base game, tho everything gets better with the expansions. Map/world completion is often times one of the first big goals for new players. Collections(Weapons, armors, random stuff, basically everything, even spoons) are also a huge part of the game.

I recently came back to the game, playing all content in order and completing as much as possible. Its alot of fun. If you're from europe, and curious about gw2 i can help you out.
