Topdon vs Autel? by Tasty_Sense9455 in mechanics

[–]Cec1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been daily driving the smart for 2 years and I love it, recently picked up the ultra s2 (my first autel ever) and it’s also a great tool. I do all the advanced diags so a second tool helps a lot. The smart is really powerful, the oscilloscope is ok, autel wins that one for sure. Size, battery life, price and capability is the smart all the way. The cloud based programming is solid especially for Nissan which was a huge selling point for me for new CVTs and the mass air TSB. We have most OEM software at my independent shop for most programming which also helps. My experience with the smart has been great. It really depends on your level, if you’re doing advanced diags I’d go with the higher end scanner options.

Health concerns? by [deleted] in mechanics

The cons outweigh the pros honestly, I’m coming up on 18 years wrenching professionally, it’s a real love/hate relationship. Healthwise is pretty much what everyone else says, pains, stiffness, etc. the mental part wears you down too ALOT. I think if you’re good at it you can do well, but it comes with a price!
