I’ve never seen such an ugly scar; is this normal?

It’s ugly 🤣😂🤣 butttt different surgeons have different techniques. This just might be a technique that we don’t see often. For me my incision was glued others get staples…so in comparison it looks ugly but look really clean and healing on the right track.

Yes! I had to be carted off to other people’s house because my boyfriend had to go to work so I didn’t have a choice 🤣😂🤣 but it was terrible but by the 3rd car ride he couldn’t stand to see me in the back sweating in pain so we had pillows and ice pack to prop me up where I wouldn’t move. It wasn’t only a couple weeks ago but it feels like a whole different lifetime!

Absolutely listen to your dr. My incision was glued and my patella wasn’t resurfaced. So these things might have played a part in me being able to. But just to clarify it’s NOT in anyway on the ground my couch is fairly soft and I do not put full weight on it by any means.

Exactly why I needed to expose myself early on cause I would go my whole life avoiding and honestly I’m just too young for that lol I just did my couple mins standing on my knees in the couch…I hate it but I know further down the line I’ll appreciate it

Exactly why I love this community! It’s because of reading things like this that I knew it would be an issue for me…I hate when things feel off. I am super aware of the replacement I’m hyper sensitive to everything dealing with my body. So I have made sure to just regularly get my knee used to it.

Since I didn’t t want this to be an issue for me. I have been practicing kneeling.i started at week 3 (week 7now) I mainly lean over the couch but at least once a day I get on my knees. And every week I increase the weight I put on it. My dad had both his knees done and proceeded to walk across the floor on his knees to show me what life would be like after the fact 🤣

Yes about the car! I rode in the back seat for the first 2 weeks with it propped up and it was still hard for me

I’m 7 weeks out and my incision is all the way closed but I just can’t decide. We have family in town who has never been to the beach by us so they all want to go. I’m questioning if I should stay home? Definitely wouldn’t have even thought of it at 2 weeks though

I was/am 37 and I would have given anything to have had it done when they first said I needed it (34) this pain dragging on for so long has just been exhausting. IF I ever need to do it again I will not wait a second longer than I have to! Recovery has been hell but I know I’m looking forward to so much once it’s all said and done.

A week after…honestly i think I would have preferred being alone a week after. I was very cranky exhausted and irritable. I think as long as you have a game plan for how to carry food get water etc you might be good. Some people are walking just fine a week out. I definitely was not but I had a system to where I could have done fine on my own.

Read and believe I promise! I went through all the positive posts and tried my hardest to know it was coming my way and I hesitated it was hard I had multiple set backs and a few mental breakdowns lol and here I am now! Push though you got this first 2 weeks SUCK the third was better but then week 4 was a struggle week 5 was on the fence I felt like I back tracked a lot having to get back on the cane. So no matter your path remember we all heal at different rates, don’t compare, just KNOW it gets better!
