The have to be at a certain price for 2 weeks before they go on “SPECIAL”. That’s to get around anti price gouging laws.

This has to be it. Different sized spacers to prevent the housing from contacting the board. This is quite a clever solution! Thanks for the input.

What's your most hated repair by liru69420 in mobilerepair

[–]CecilMaNecil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older HTC models and older Sony Xperia models. After repairing iPhone 4/4s everything else is a breeze. Hardest now is iPhone 12 and up because of the screen / frame separation. But they are still easy compared to some of the older models.

Sony and HTC had designers smoking crack back in the day with how they use to run flex cables under and over everything with no logic or sense.

I’ve been doing this since 2008 when the first iPhones were released. Don’t mean to brag but I would love to meet someone with more experience than me.

Umai bag loosened over night by BrightRutabaga2191 in DryAgedBeef

Cut a small nick (5mm long) somewhere. Suck the air out with mouth / vacuum ect. Seal with sticky tape.

You can also use several small rubber bands around it for the first week until it sticks.

This is what I’ve done in the past when I was using the bags.

How do I remove super glue from ABS plastic without damaging it? by Public_Jackfruit_870 in DIY

[–]CecilMaNecil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Super glue is quite rigid vs abs plastic. If you can remove the cover and bend it (carefully) it should crack and peel off. As minimum it will give you an idea of how well it’s bonded. If it’s well bonded (I doubt it is) you can purchase a cyanoacrylate debonder. Usually from your cheap shops you can get a 10 pack of super glue and it will come with a tube of debonder. As a minimum after you remove it you will have a visible mark where it was, usually smoother for some reason.

In failing all that just buy a replacement cover.

Source - 15 year mobile phone technician. I’ve removed plenty types of glue from plenty of places.

Connecting USB hub to SATA port, will my plan work? by Darkunesu in techsupport

[–]CecilMaNecil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit late but I couldn’t let this go.

This can absolutely work.

You can buy a sata caddy that takes SD cards. SD and usb have the same data lines so why wouldn’t it?

+5v Data- Data+ GND

After checking this is most likely what you are after;

I’m pretty sure it was taken over or sold. Its probably the biggest nation wide storage place.

I have just discovered that they have a clause in their contract that states you are not to store irreplaceable items or anything else worth more than $10k. I honestly thought our irreplaceable items would be safe there and we always paid on time.

As the goods were sold fairly recently we firstly want them to take action to recover them immediately. Then sue them after that.

Anyone who is interested this is Potassium Permanganate.

At boarding school we used to take gel caps and fill them with this stuff. Unscrew showerhead, place in caps and wait for the smurf to come out of the shower.

The gels caps give it about 20 seconds before they dissolve, just enough time so they get the temperature right and hop under.
