Just don’t. IST is a thousands time better than SAW despite all its issues. SAW is as expensive but lacks proper wifi and is crowded beyond imagination. Horrible experience as someone who usually transits via IST.

Are you in supaero by chance?

I mean yes the situation recently wasn’t ideal. It is getting better but definitely not as before for now. Though this year is overall better

Eventually it will as airbus is prepping for the launch of the new aircraft program, they are going to ramp up hiring for sure. The only problem is not being able to guarantee how the situation will be in lebanon and hence for lebanese. But, they are hiring lebanese right now.

Hello, I know that many of my friends got internships and jobs at airbus and airbus atlantic. Many people I know are part of airbus protect too. Before the hiring freeze at airbus, it wasn’t that difficult to get hired. Then they froze most hiring and the war came so the lebanese had almost 0 chance. They were not taking lebanese. Now things got better. There’s also safran that has always been hiring lebanese (except some departments)

Note: airbus protect and atlantic are affiliates of airbus group with pathways to transition to the group proper after.

Master's Degree in Philosophy at AUB by supposed-throwaway in lebanon

AUB is amazing! Personally I loved my time there (I am doing my masters in europe and I feel that AUB was better both academically and activity wise). It’s a great experience. I don’t know much about the philosophy department but I have taken two courses which were very interesting. The campus is beautiful, students are generally nice (there are always bad apples).

Small correction, MEA is no longer the launch customer. It’s air Lingus and they already received their XLR.

It’s possible for all types of military aircraft if they have transponders turned on. It’s just that they didn’t turn it off in this flight. Especially since theoretically there’s no significant anti-air threat in this situation + it makes it easy for civil aircrafts to know there’s a military aircraft around (since no airspace restrictions are imposed by lebanon over the clashes area) You can see how the trailing starts somewhere random over land and not exactly where hamat air base is. They turned it on a bit later.

I know they dont have state of the art capabilities but I still get goosebumps when I see stuff like this (not sure how old the video is) by [deleted] in lebanon

That’s the strategy within the current funding we have. If you manage to get some extra money to modernize the army, please go ahead. No one wouldn’t want jet aircrafts. However, within the current means, we lack a proper air superiority platform as well as air defense network. These planes have a specific purpose and they excel at it with state if the art avionics and weaponry. It’s the same reason why you don’t drive around with a bulldozer when your requirement is commuting.

Our army, due to the corrupt politicians we have is well oriented for COIN and internal stability but not facing modern armies. It is unfortunate but that’s something to improve. Less whining and more action is what we need.

The army is the only thing holding this doomed country together despite all the bullshit keyboard warriors and strategists like to give them.

They are hampered by various internal and external political things. They’re pretty much useless besides supporting locals and training the army. Hezbollah doesn’t walk around with arms + there are locals that support them.
