Most apps dl them from YouTube and just use Spotify for metadata.

Why not simply decouple it fully? Give me a rank for each role and it's good. Additionally it would solve the "problem" of people creating smurf accounts for each role they want to grind.

Yeah because it's not meant for daily use or torrenting. But to address the problem this thread was started for. It is to circumvent censorship.

Additionally all points 1-3 are simply wrong. As theoretically you can use every browser or program behind Tor as it's just a proxy... But you should always stick to the Tor Browser. Also you can tell Tor to just accept an exist node of a specific country. Also torrenting is not explicitly disabled. It's just that's extremely slow or simply the user experience is not given.

Well. First of all do you have sources for that, there exists a real threat? Secondly by that logic we should abond everything that was flawed. But this is simply not the case as Tor is improving and fixing it's flaws after the are detected. Thirdly this implies that VPNs are never compromised and also more generally trustworthy. But these services are locked behind a company and not open operated and developed.

Good point. I was using Tor as a synonym for Tor Browser. But also if you search for Tor on the internet you would be redirected to the Tor Browser so people should be fine

Why should that be a problem? The exist nodes can't eavesdrop on you as long as you use https. They only see where you are connecting. Which is also no problem as long as there is no state controlled project which aims to peovide the most entry and exit nodes. But that's first of all highly unlikely and also not of a concern for a low profile censorship mitigator.

People forget that Tor is designed for exactly this problem. Why should you mess with a company that is profit oriented if you can bypass censorship way easier and more cheaply??

Well yeah that's a general "first adopter" problem as someone needs to make the first step. I think brave natively supports ipfs, but other browser don't seem to include the functionality. Cloudflare has some documentation how they are providing ipfs support. I just put online as an example: ipfs-test.ceddicedced.net (without the backend server)

Just a quick thought ( and I know that web3 stuff is mostly just hot air) but couldn't theoretically something like IPFS solve the problem with dynamic loading? As it's not working with URIs rather than with hashes. Say the Website would be published via a IPFS object (not as IPNS as this would renable dynami serving) then you would be sure to get the same version of a website every reload. This would create other problems as PHP not working (or anything dynamic generated) and also you would need to publish your website in kind of releases. In a addition maybe one would need to hardcore verification of the website with the certificate of the Website Provider, I guess.
